Cathe's Pyramid Workouts

are a thing of beauty. Every time I go back to these workouts after doing other things, I get a nice set of DOMS! I love that I'm done in one hour or less and the stability ball work is mint! I go as heavy as I can with good form while keeping the pace of Cathe and crew (which keeps my heart rate nicely elevated during PLB)...well there is one section on PLB where they seem to go REALLY fast and my hands are tired and sweaty and I have to pause the DVD player for a couple of seconds to change the plates on my bar. Anyway, I think they are also very versatile in that one could do the Pyramid Up or Down only premix, take extra rests to recover, and use really heavy weight to make it more strength oriented. I personally think they may be Cathe's best set of weight workouts to date (I know probably nothing will compare in the shadow of STS, but ya know what I mean ).

My body responds very well to this one, I usually get quite buff after a month of it. This is one that having two barbells(I bought an extra for DH to work out with me), is a plus. I load them up for the first and second levels, and only have to change it for the third.

I love the Pyramids! Some weeks I use the pyramid up premix, but lately I've been doing all five sets and making it a 2-day split. Although, I used Butts and Guts for the first time this morning and I think that may make PLB seem kind of easy by comparison!

I'm always surprised at the popularity of these workouts, particularly PUB. I kinda like PLB, but PUB I consider a bit of a waste of time. Too much arm work, and back work isn't particularly good, either.

LOL sorry to crash the love fest, but someone has to do it.

I loved the workout itself, but Cathe seemed so bored with it. Plus, I was only doing the Up or Down premixes. I'm going to have to reacquire this one somehow though. Just for the variety.

I agree that if I would have had two barbells I would have liked this workout better. I do think it is probably a really effective workout but I hated pausing the DVD and changing my weights all the time.

The Pyramid workouts are soooooooo EFFECTIVE! The music is good, and the time just flies even though these workout are very challenging.

When I started doing them on a regular basis, I noticed strength gains that spilled over into all my other workouts.

The Pyramids are a must have set IMO.

I love the upper body one and feel that it's very effective. The abs are my absolute favorite and I do them on their own a lot. The lower body one is OK but I hate having a barbell on my shoulders for that long so I rarely do it.

My weighted vest comes in really handy for PLB. I just use the vest alone (20#) for the lightest set, then add body bars to increase the weight for the other sets. I can leave the vest on for the whole standing portion of the workout and only have to grab different body bars as needed.
