water

I'm not sure if I can post this here, is it too much of a diet question?

I was wondering if anyone noticed a difference after increasing their water intake, that is if you have been working out regularly, but not getting a lot of results & then after increased your water intake things improved.

If this is the wrong place to post this, just please point me in the right direction!

Thanks!
Tami

I got improved results when I increased my water intake. I think before that I would mistake thirst for hunger and would eat something rather than drink water. When I increased my water intake I found I felt less hungry, probably because I was adequately hydrated. I also felt less bloated and all my elimination processes became better. The end result was that I feel better and look leaner.

I totally agree. I've been increasing my water intake gradually and now at the point where I must have a bottle of water at my bedside and the biggest thing for me is that now I don't have to have my water ice cold to drink it.
The thought of drinking room temp. water used to drive me crazy but now I'm used to it plus, all of the benefits of drinking more water just make it so worth it for me.

I do try to drink more water but I'm sure I could do better. How much do you all drink?

Water is just as important as your diet.

Like Sabine has pointed out, it's easy to mistake being dehydrated for hunger pangs. True hunger pangs will not dissipate after drinking a glass of water.

Staying hydrated also helps your energy level, especially in the afternoon.

I have really low blood pressure and I have to stay hydrated to avoid dizzy spells. The types of dizzy spells I get is very scary. It's like the floor under my feet has disappeared, and I feel a sudden drop. I have literally fallen off my back porch, and the bottom of my steps during these spells.

I drink around 80 oz. a day. If it's really hot and/or I do a super sweaty workout I'll try to drink more.

Benefits of water (from a little chart I have). Hope it helps:

-Brain consists of 90% water
-regulates body temperature
-transports nutrients and oxygen to cells
-blood consists of 83% water
-moisturizes the air in our lungs
-helps with our metabolism
-detoxifies
-protects our organs
-bone consists of 22% water
-helps our organs to absorb nutrients better
-protects and moisturizes our joints
-muscle consists of 75% water

I also drink about 80 ozs of water, give and take 20ozs depending on how hot it is or my level of exertion at the time. YMMV.

PS: I wrote all this out but the "server busy" got it and ate it up. Had to come back and repost it.

I watch a health documentary recently and it stated that for every 1 kg weight, we have to drink 40 cc of water. The equivalent is every 2.2lbs of weight you would need about 1.35 oz of water a day. Hope my conversion is correct. We use metric measurement over here.

I have been drinking for my equivalent weight for a week and found that not only I am no more dehydrated, I don't feel hungry and eat less too.

However, you can't drink all the water at one go. Was told to drink 500cc when you wake up in the morning follow by 300 cc two hours later and so on throughout the day until your quota is met.
