Green tea question

If this violates any rules, please delete.

I am trying to drink a cup of green tea each day for the health benefits. I am fine with drinking it without any milk/creamer or sugar.

Does using a little honey negate the health benefits? I can get it down straight, but a little hone would definitely improve the taste!

I have coconut sugar if that is another option.

Thank you!

All I can think of is honey is metabolized just like any sugar product. The key difference is some vitamins and nutrients in honey that aren't found in refined table sugar though. I can't comment on negating health benefits because there are too many unknown variables to consider plus I'm not a medical or nutritional professional to advise someone on personal health & nutritional considerations.

Thanks! I am going to try to just drink it straight. That would be the most beneficial way.

I was able to switch from sugar in my tea to honey but haven't been able to give that up. My doctor recommended sweet leaf stevia, I believe it was, or monk fruit. I haven't looked for them yet. I'm curious how expensive they are, although honey isn't exactly cheap.

I got used to unsweetened tea pretty quickly. My personal experience is that my palate prefers the natural, plain tea more now.

Maybe if you reduced sweetener just a little day by day to get used to it?

Sweet leaf stevia is very cheap. That’s what I use to sweeten my tea.

Stevia is very inexpensive (I'm thinking a few dollars for about 50 packets), all natural (ground plant leaves), calorie free, no artificial sweeteners, no blood sugar effect. I use it often with tea and coffee. It sweetens lightly and some say there is a slight bitter flavor to it but I overlook that because there is so much I like about it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try to keep it plain, but if I can't stand it that way I will maybe try stevia. I will think of the character Lydia on Breaking Bad every time I use it, though !

Thanks for the stevia feedback! I will look for it next time I'm at the store.
