Exclamation Jack LaLanne workouts on Collage!!!

How cool is that! I own Vols. 3 and 7 that I bought at a fitness convention.

Here is the late "Godfather of Fitness" site:

I need to tear off the shrink wrap.

That IS cool! I was wondering about them, if they would be too corny or basic so I didn't order, but I was definitely curious. Would like to hear your thoughts on them.

There's also a 10-volume collector's pack on Amazon for $99 + $4 shipping. It's from a third-party seller, but the seller is the Jack LaLanne company.

I might have to bite.

I previewed the first episode on The Jack La Lanne Show Vol. 3.

Jack has so much enthusiasm and charm. I can see why moms watched him, even if they didn't do the workout. He's gorgeous and he can sing!

The moves are a smorgasbord of ballistic stretches and strengthening exercises. A blend of barre, mat, T-Tapp, Pilates and military-style.

The exercises are a bit too ballistic for me. He doesn't give too many form pointers. I wonder if anyone ever got hurt doing some of the old-school exercises from his show.

Still, you gotta love Jack!

When I was little my babysitter used to watch Jack’s show. I don’t think she participated much although I do remember her sitting in a chair and pedaling her feet once in awhile.

I remember my Ma or my aunt, if I was at her house, doing Jack LaLanne. They would put on a Danskin leotard and black pantyhose. They would do some of the exercises and I would join in with the jumping jacks and leg peddling. I remember the organ "inhale, exhale" but mostly I remember him giving pep talks. We all loved him. Especially when his white German shepherds came out.

I seem to recall it was more talking than exercising though.

There is a full episode on YouTube:

There is a good amount of encouragement talk, but still plenty of exercise.

The "hangover" description in this episode cracked me up.

I remember my dad doing the exercises with Jack. I specifically remember him doing the arm exercises. My dad was a gymnast in high school but had gotten out of shape as the years went on.

He did get a good amount of exercise in. I like all that balance work and he mirror cued! Some of the exercises look backache inducing, but he's so motivating.

Just love that live organ music.
