floor exercise on hard floor

I'm thinking about doing some ab exercises and other exercises on the floor with my kids. We have a hard floor. I used to have a cushiony mat to lay on to do exercises, but if I can avoid it, I do nto want to have to purchase special equipments again....

I'm curious about what you all are using while doing exercises on a hard floor. What are you using? Do you have any recommendations about what to use? I don't mind buying some cushiony mats again if I can find one for cheap.

You could make a mat by folding up a blanket. I have used that and it's been fine.

I have the manduka pro yoga mat. Its really cushy compared to other mats I tried. It feels like you can dig in deeper into the ab moves or yoga poses. Its hard to describe, but my workouts have improved using it.

I got a nice thick mat (about 1.5 cm thick). It cost €19.
Puzzle mats are ok, too, if you have good ones. Ours are cheap and come apart too easily.

Bath mats and door mats often work well too.

I layer two yoga mats when I'm doing floor work, especially during side lying pilates. I'm just really sensitive to hard floors, I guess. Technically, I have carpet, but it's hardly what you'd call plush. It's cheap, is what it is! Ah well, it's a rental.

tks for the suggestions. I'll most likely start doing the exercises with blankets to start with, but might purchase one of those in future.

I have a 6' round yoga mat and I love it! I use a regular size lululemon yoga mat on top of it for extra cushioning.

I also use a blanket, folded in half, with a yoga mat on top of it. I found the blanket slips on my concrete floor, so now my bottom layer is non-slip rug mat (made to go under area rugs).

I have a marble floor and I layer two yoga mats usually. If I must kneel, I use my kids' kickboard under my knees.
