Pilates on fifth

I must say, I have not checked out their videos in depth, so I might be way off on this but.... does any of you find their materials little bit off from traditional material? I.E. method of breathing, how far to lower your legs... etc. OK Actually I do not remember what exactly it was I found different now. lol it was about a month ago when I was checking them out. hehe.

I could be wrong though. I was just wondering how people thought about their material.

They don't teach classical Pilates, no. They've definitely tweaked some things, including form, order, and even breathing in some exercises. Their changes aren't quite as dramatic as Stott's, but they're often along the same veins. I don't know enough about the Corps sisters to say if they're reading the same materials (for example, recent studies on back health related to the position of the spine in abs exercises) or what.
I don't mind their changes, as I do what feels best for my body. I take or leave what works for me and don't always follow the classical methods strictly. I know there's a growing movement to preserve the purity of the original method, but Joseph Pilates, as I understand his teachings, was flexible and adapted his methods to individual needs, which I think is lost on a few folks who insist on doing things exactly one way.

Thanks for the reply.
You ladies are so knowledgeable always.

I think nose of us who have been enjoying the exercise videos are used to just adjust to meet our needs. I do that all the time.
