Jazzercize

Got this in my CNN Good Stuff updates email today and thought I would share:
Raise a glass to...Judi Sheppard Missett, the founder of the Jazzercise movement. Yes, the biggest fitness craze of the 1970s and 1980s is still thriving, with more than 8,500 Jazzercise studios around the world. And, at 75, Missett is still choreographing and leading classes! What's the secret to the longevity of her beloved movement? Positivity. Missett says her mission of making fitness fun and accessible is as relevant today as it was when she started the program in 1969. "Anticipation and excitement keep you motivated, keep you moving forward," she says. "When you truly love what you do, I don’t think you’re ever done." Consider this your inspiration to hold a living room dance party this weekend. After all, we've all got to keep moving.

Thanks for sharing this, Beth! I attended as many as four Jazzercise classes a week in the late 70s. Two of the classes were free because I helped check in people at the door for one of the instructors.

You are welcome Martha! I don't think I've ever actually done Jazzercize, but it was worth sharing.

Thanks, Beth!

In the 80's, I used to walk to our local park's gym to do Jazzercise. It was so much fun!

Anita, glad you liked the article--let us know if you try the studio!

Thanks for the compliment on my photo. To offer a little bit of assistance during this crisis, I started filming short yoga and meditation videos and posting them on YouTube. The photo is snipped from one of the recent videos I did.

Alta, I did some Jazzercize-like stuff in the 80s, but not the actual program.
