This doesn't surprise me. I think we were given an inkling of this in the episode where Kevin is serial dating, trying to find the 'right one'. If you watch the part where Kevin, Kate and Madison are in the cafe and Kevin is talking about giving up on dating and finding the right woman (right before he sees that beautiful dark haired woman -- whom he doesn't know is married -- and strikes up a conversation with her), you see a small flicker of a moment between Kevin and Madison. I actually expected those two to hook up in that episode.
