no more high rep for me :(

nut bunnies

a life time of unstable joint and the thrill (not a positive one) of hyper extending a knee got me a talking to by both my GP and my physical therapist's office

they're both sick of me showing up for the same type of injury

time to weed my collection

whaaaa! that takes my Jari Love workouts away

anyone have a list of high rep low weight vids?

Have you tried Margaret Richard? She is the queen of high rep lower weights-well, I use lower weights-I cannot match her! I'd be glad to loan you anything you want.....but I'm confused by your post since you said no more high rep. Do you mean no more heavy weights?

Hugs,
Sherry

Do you have Cathe's "Slow and Heavy?" I know you have Body Beast.

I'm so sorry!

A couple months ago, my knees started to bother me, so I started a list of my weight videos grouped by number of reps: 8-10, 10 - 12, 12 - 16, and 16 or over. This does not include my videos with light weights combined with cardio which are also hard on the lower body.

Get Ripped Core
Get Ripped Slim & Lean
Hardcore Circuit Challenge
Maximum Intensity Strength

High Step Challenge
High Step Training Advanced
Low Impact Series - Total Body Trisets - lower body

Interesting! I didn't realize high rep workouts would have enough reps to cause over use injuries! Were you doing a LOT of this type of workout?

Since I seem to get injured with low rep high weight workouts I have recently switched to high reps and find I need to use REALLY low weights compared to what I had been using, whereas the instructors use what to me would be medium high.

I would like more information on the dangers of high rep/low weight. Will google it now.

Did the doc and PT say you could do slow and heavy instead of high rep and lighter? I know the two methods work different types of muscle fibers, but I would think they would both aggravate unstable joints - that the heavier weight would have the same effect on the joints as more reps

I wonder this also. I couldn't find any info on the dangers of high reps - anyone know about this - I'm not questioning the OP's doctors, just would like to know more about this issue. Thanks

hattie: THANK YOU!!!
I'm going to miss some of these

it's my joint instability that's the problem (and age)
high rep low weight is great!
and as far as I know not dangerous in any way

unless you have my physiological peculiarities
(I suspect my inherent klutzyness adds to this mess)

the heavy weight recommendation is to strengthen the (muscles around) the joints.
the muscles have to take over connective duty for slack tendons (or is it ligaments? which one is bone to bone?)

I'll post more info as I get it
