We went through this with Ted too, it took weeks for him to settle down. Remember he is being medicated, so he has had a while of not being well, and now he'll be up and down in how he's feeling until he has stabilised. You may even need to go back to the vet a couple of times to get his glucose levels checked and the dosage adjusted until things settle. It's a few weeks of uncertainty but then everything falls into place. Honest! Our vet told us that the biggest indicator was his water intake. Always have fresh water available and try to keep track of how much he is drinking. Cats drink - especially if they are on dry food, so don't freak out at every sip, but if he has an increased thirst over a period of days then call the vet. It will probably mean a quick trip to get his glucose levels checked and maybe a small adjustment in dosage. One more thing, I am happy using the syringe, but my husband was never keen on it so he uses a pen type thing - almost like a human epi-pen. Your vet can order them in if you want to try it. I hope that helps? Good luck! |
