Interesting that you ask about mannerisms. Gandalf (the younger addition who is now up to 93 pounds) is the first male dog I've ever had. He is a bit goofy and ridiculous and much friendlier than Dagny, our nine year old female. Dagny has never been goofy or ridiculous in our life. He loves her so much....wherever Dagny is, Gandalf lays down about three inches form her (as the avatar shows) and she looks at us like "please, is just a little personal space too much to ask?"

Yes, we're into naming our dogs after favorites characters in favorite books.

Gandalf - awesome name! my friend had a shepherd named Elvis. I thought that was a cute name too.

we don't have dogs, but I love dogs - love their mannerisms.

we own a cat, and she has lots of personality.
