There is no way I could have hit that number if I was chained to my computer and desk (as I was when I worked as a legal secretary and also travel agent). I feel your pain!
I have a desk job and I can hit 10,000 *if* I walk at lunch for 1/2 hour and walk the dogs after work. I usually work out in the morning, tho, so I count that, plus my car is parked 1/2 mile away from my office.

I always think of 5 miles a day as approximately equal to 10,000 steps.

I have a desk job. When I wore a pedometer I would have to do my morning run (anywhere from 2 to 3 miles) walk at lunch for a mile and usually add a Leslie walk at the end of the day to hit 10,000 steps.

I personally did not find it easy.

But when I managed to do that consistently I lost a lot of weight.

When I had a desk job my numbers were like sheepla's, but now I have a much more active job and it's a piece of cake to get in 10,000 even on days when I don't work out. I walk tons at work and I'm on my feet all day. I like it so much better than the desk life.

This thread is inspiring me to walk more. Every time I've tried a pedometer, it hasn't registered all my steps, so I gave up. Can anyone recommend a good one?

This one does work great, but my only complaint is that you have to walk 10 steps before it registers any steps. I don't work out of the house so most my walking is walking around the house and I don't always do 10 steps at one time for it to register my steps. Just FYI in case that matters for you.

That's strange. Is it supposed to do that? I agree, you don't want to give up any steps.

I had that Omron that VFers love so much & hated it for the reason that Cher stated, and it seemed like I would take more than 10 steps & it would register nothing! I have a New Lifestyles 2000 and it is very accurate, I love it (though it's pricier than the Omron but worth it to show my actual steps)!
