Tips for moving around more during the day

I KNOW this has been posted before, but I simply cannot find it. I would love tips for moving around more during the day. I, too, have a desk job. It's really tough right now as I'm both manager and handling a territory as we had to let someone go.

Here's the thread I thought of from last year - http://forum.videofitness.com/showth...ighlight=steps And here's one from several years before that - http://forum.videofitness.com/showth...ighlight=steps

I now have a desk job and work in a very small company where someone is constantly coming to find me, so it's hard to get away from my desk. I try to sneak in steps by walking the long way around to the printer and once a day get out of the office.

Great trip down "memory lane"...esp. CarlaShanti's bit about all the walking back and forth because of forgotten items...that's me

And don't ever get discouraged! Even with a physically active job like mine, it sometimes takes a little creativity and effort to get in those steps!!! I don't go for shortcuts like I might normally...that reduces the steps

pedomiter

Don't know if I spelled it right. I wear one at work and it makes me very conscious of my steps. Sometimes I walk the halls a couple of times. And sometimes I do jumping jacks or something in the bathroom. I usually get close to my 10,000 steps. Some days I go over and some days I get about half. It just makes me more aware.

This is my latest trick...I put the trash can in my office across the room so I have to get to throw things away. You could even go so far as to take it completely out of the room and anytime you have something for trash having to get up and walk to it!

I was going to ask if you have a pedometer too--consider getting one and then joining us for the pedometer checkin!
