Good to know, thanks! I actively avoid books and movies where I know a pet will die.

In the recent past, I have read:

One Summer - I love Roisin Meaney's books and this was one of her better ones, I thought.

Brilliance - The first in the Brilliance Saga, I really enjoyed this book. It dragged a little at the end, but kept me engaged throughout. I'm not a big science fiction type fan and it seemed like is could really happen to me. I'm currently reading book #2 in the series, A Better World, and am enjoying it so far as well.

Return to the Beach House - I really like Georgia Bockoven's books back in the day and this book returns to the setting of two of her old books. I enjoyed it. It was three stories of different characters with some unifying themes and characters to tie the different story lines together.

Fatal Flaw - This fourth book in the "Fatal" series by Marie Force was just as good as the previous ones. I'm enjoying having a series of mysteries that keep me engaged.

I finally finished book 3 of the Fifty Shades of Grey series, called Fifty Shades Freed. Keep I mind that I loved book one. Book two was okay but longer than it should have been. Book three was the WORST book I have ever forced myself to finish. I made myself finish it because I read the first two books. It was terrible!!!

yeah, they all got progressively worse. I hate when that happens.

I've now read the new Robin Hobb (Fool's Assassin) twice. It didn't have any holds on it at the library, so I couldn't resist. I'm glad I re-read it, there are some more subtle things going on that I'd missed the first time through.

Now I'm starting the first series again (Assassin's Apprentice, to start with.)

I went to a used book sale last night and was able to get four books in a murder mystery series by Lorna Barrett called the "Booktown Mysteries" series--has anyone read these? I guess they are book-themed murders with recipes; sounded good to me! I got books 1-3 and #5; I looked all over for #4, but unfortunately that one was missing. They seem to have good reviews on Amazon.

Beth-I have read most of that series. I do enjoy them, but I get sick of the main character getting treated like crap by her very self involved sister.

I don't think I'm caught up on all the books. They started releasing new ones in hardcover instead of straight to paperback, so I wait for the paperback version.

I have one in my TBR pile. I'm not sure which number it is, though.

Sherry, I guess every series is bound to have something annoying.

I just finished Dancer, Daughter, Traitor, Spy a Young Adult novel by Elizabeth Kiem. It was okay, nothing spectacular.
