Going retro. Anyone still have The Slide?

Picked one up this weekend for $2.99, new in box (from the Dark Ages).

Played with it in my socks and can see how it works the legs.

Then I put the booties on and promptly hit the floor. Man, that thing is slicker than Shovel Max.

Anybody ever just use it with their socks only?

Anybody still doing it?

Is it worthwhile or just schtick?

DD is sick so I don't want to take the VHS downstairs to the workout area leaving her upstairs alone. Any actual workouts out there or is it just to'ing and fro'ing?

IMO: Schtick!

I had that thing years (ages) ago & I never really found it very useful, plus not much variety. Gimmicky. Finally get rid of it. But, there was not alot of selection of videos to go w/it either.

Mayb there will be some other opinions, but that was my experience.

I REMEMBER THAT THING boy, that was a LONG time ago! Don't mean to be a downer but I hated it, really hated it and never felt safe enough to use it much, those booties made that thing slicker then black ice
Please becareful on that thing

I use mine in some interval training exercise, or as a sub for some VAlslides exercises, also for ab plank V-ups. I use as cardio between kettlebell lifting exercise...I do a deadlift and get on the slide for :30 then do squats then get on the slide :30 and so on and so one. My slide is 6' I brought the slide booties last year from Perform better when they had a sale. Obviously I don't find it Gimmicky or a Shtick they work the inter and outside legs, abs, cardio, and balance. You can work the upper body to get in the plank position and do push-ups but slide your arms in front of you back and forwards, or do plank V-up. I'm not sure if it's still there but last year Shape Magazine did a whole section of workouts for the slide, it was very good and challenging

I got one (from Thrift Store) and love using it. That said, I don't use it very often. I like the way it works my legs but don't find myself using it for longer than 15 minutes at a time. I also got the Reebok Basic Slide VHS (converted it to Video CD) but find that workout lacking. I wish there were more DVD's for the slide. Wasn't there a barre workout that uses it recently?

I mainly like to use the slide as part of a circuit where I go from treadmill - spin bike - stair machine - gazelle - row machine - slide for 5 minitues each. Two Rounds makes a good hour cross training workout.

Isn't there a barre workout coming out soon that will incorporate the slide?

Thanks for all the info.
Not so much into circuits, but I can see doing ten minutes of sliding in the "just do ten-minutes to get me going" stage.

Yes, incredibly slick with the booties. I think socks will be it for me until I get really used to it.

I do have a glide workout and find the gliders cumbersome so I will try that workout with this.

Thanks again.

YES! I actually have a slide on my "wish list" at Amazon right now in preparation!

That sounds like a fantastic deal! I've been looking for one of these at my local thrift stores!

Alison, I found one a month ago at a different thrift store for $20, but my price point was quite a bit lower.
They are out there, so keep looking.

If you get it, just be aware the booties are infinitely slicker than socks.
And if I don't use it for working out, I am going to use it as a lint brush. Just unrolling it on the carpet I managed to pick up more hair than I have on my head. Wasn't easy getting rid of it all.
