Your favorite DVDs or YouTube videos for stretching the back?

The title pretty much says it all.

I'm looking for your favorite/most used/recommended DVD segments and/or YouTube videos that stretch and/or release the back. (Specifically the low to lower mid back but also the upper, as well!)

Or, if you have Vimeo or DailyMotion links, as well, that's fine. (I'm just looking to avoid routines/videos that are on subscription sites.)

Straight forward stretching, yoga, Qi Gong, Classical Stretch. Whatever you got, throw it at me. I don't discriminate.

I haven't had much back pain lately, but when I did, I really liked Yoga to Go - Back to Health. I'd had p.t. for my lower back pain and much of the the Yoga to Go routines were spot on (i.e., used the same stretches/exercises that my physical therapists recommended). Although they didn't bother me, production values for that DVD might be an issue for you, though. (The physician who teaches the course is kind of blah; plain white set.)

Since that time, I've collected several other DVDs for back stretching and I have found the following helpful for my special issues:

Barbara Benagh's Yoga for Stress Relief (can't remember which specific practices, but they will be pretty obvious once you see the choices)
Rodney Yee's Yoga for Back Care and Core Cross Train
Jessica Smith's Gentle Yoga for Back Pain Relief and Prevention (the Pain Relief practice is more stretchy and relaxing than the Prevention practice, which is more strengthening)

Also worth mentioning, for a great total body stretch I love Jessica Smith's Yoga Stretch for Beginners and Beyond (the Yoga for Relaxation practice is perfect!)

Thanks so much, Donna, for responding!

I already have a couple of those DVDs you mentioned so I'll pull them out and look into acquiring the others.

I'm hoping some others can chime in, as well?

Fightmaster Yoga has some nice practices on YouTube. Her Yoga for Sciatica is a good one.

My favorite is Paul Grilley's Yin Yoga for the spine. It's rather extreme though, holding positions for 4-5 minutes. I have done this one about once a month for years.

When my back actually hurts, my favorite is Rodney Yee's Yoga for Backcare.

I start every morning by hanging for a few breaths, just to decompress the spine, after my 7 minutes of QiGong. I consider both of these as preventative care.

This is a really nice little yoga practice from a yoga teacher in my area that gently targets the lower back:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05Le...index=4&t=472s

I took some of his ideas and created a hips & back practice (sorry that it is pretty low-tech; it was one of the first ones I filmed):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0Lv...Q7P-U&index=10

If you are looking more for upper back (neck/shoulders), I have a whole playlist of favorites:

I also have this "Rehab" playlist, which includes a variety of routines that might be helpful (I like the ones from James Knight when I need to stretch my back):
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...PobDZ4Zxb-lyc6

From my DVD collection, the routines I go to stretch my back are the Lower Body segment from Total Body Solultion and the Back Care Prevention episodes from Classical Stretch Season 4.

Hope this helps!

This DVD is similar to the DVD mentioned above (which I also have) except it's filmed in Red Rock Canyon outside Las Vegas (not in Colorado). It is the same instructor (Nancy Wile)and it has 3 20-minute sections - Neck, Low Back and Strength and Flexibility. I really like to first two sections but have never done the third one. Her voice does sound a little stilted but I imagine she was nervous. The workouts are very good and I do them frequently because they are so soothing. I highly recommend this DVD.

T-Tapp Primary Back Stretch is my favorite for stretching the back, although any Classical Stretch/Essentrics workout will do a good job, too.

Stretching the diamond is a good one from Sherry Zak Morris:
