I'll keep this short in case it doesn't post.
I have taken the week off. My body aches were getting annoying and I just wasn't feeling top of my game. so I took this week off, except for one 25 minute Yoga/pilates (X-factor?). I'll be back next week!
We had a busy week, and with time change everything seems like it's been totally off. A good week to take off I haven't taken a week off in a long time anyhow.
We have been doing the horse training pretty much every day for 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day, plus we had a birthday party, a new bible study, violin, meeting friends... it's been busy and I am ready for a few days of nothing scheduled!
Today LB and I will go scoop poop at the horses house, then I will take her up to my sister's house to spend the weekend! She's excited, but of course scared. Leaving home when you are a kid is scary, even though when you get there you are good. I still do that.
I am starting to get Christmas gifts together, and our county goes on more lockdown again on Monday. Our business stays open (luckily), however a lot of other ones won't make it through this one, unfortunately
We have had sunny days, and we will probably work on the garage all weekend while LB is at my sisters. We need to get it done.
So quiet weekend, after a few busy, busy weeks. I will admit I am feeling much better taking this week off. I haven't slept well again, so it's been good not having my workout looming when I haven't slept well. I feel like my body is healing. I think I will get back into it with a yoga, then go back into my weight lifting!
So on Halloween we went to a trunk or treat at a church. I figured we'd be there maybe an hour and leave. NOPE! It was huge! We actually trunk or treated, then there was a petting zoo, obstical course, face painting, and ax throwing! We ended up being there about 4 hours, and trunk or treating was like an afterthought. DH has said he can be talked into a donkey, and LB and I both laughed. Well, there was a miniature donkey there and we both fell in love. Now DH is saying a full sized one, but we may end up with a donkey in the summer.
We were invited to a trick or treat near Bailey, a mountain town about 30 minutes from us. I almost cancelled because we were so tired, but decided T or T only happens a few years in their lives so we went. I was psyching LB up saying "we had a good day. If there's only a few houses giving out candy, at least we had a good day." We came down a hill and there were about 10 police cars with lights flashing. I said "Uh oh. An accident." as we got closer, there was a big sign saying "Slow down! Trick or Treaters" and wow. Things got surreal from there. We got parked on one side of the highway with about 100 other cars, and the cops were escorting families across the highway where it was like a movie set! So many T or T'ers! We met two other families there, and we kept losing the kids there were so many kids! we spent about 2 hours there. It was a blast! I was shoving candy into my pockets because the little bag I had for LB was full. It was like a movie!
So we had a great halloween, and I ended up sleeping most of Sunday away. I was exhausted after about 5 days of non-stop.
I keep adding to my check in, then seeing if it posted. So far so good!
Ebianco: I hope things are settling down for you.
Eventmom: So two days ago I was riding the horse, and she started bowing down her head like she was looking for food, and then went down on her "knees" on her front legs. I pulled my feet out of the stirrups, and she started to roll. I was able to just step off the horse when she went down, so I was good. But it was like bailing out of a car right before it crashes. I stood there watching thinking how I could have been crushed, and wondering if LB was on her back if she would have gotten off. I told LB no getting on the horse until we know what's going on. The lady is looking for the trainer she used to use and seeing if she can get some input and perhaps more professional training for the horse. The lady trained other horses, but this horse is much different and her training is rusty. The horse wouldn't hurt us intentionally, and I am grateful she was giving indications something was going on before just laying down and rolling. So yesterday LB was on with a rope lead, and I was close to her the whole time.
I see more ground training in the future, and careful riding if I let her get on. I know the horse is rusty too since the lady was injured and has health problems, but we all agree LB and I as amateurs aren't the ones to get her back in the riding game! We'll see what happens. We are still enjoying working with the horse, and I really think it's good for LB. We are learning a LOT! LB looks forward to it every day.
