Angry One more sun salutation and I'll....

Ugh!
Can anyone point me at some yoga videos that do NOT have sun salutations in them?

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. The videos/CDs that come immediately to mind are Patricia Walden's Yoga Journal's Yoga Practice for Flexibility -- 2 half-hour practices: backbends and then forward bends and the yoga stretch sequence of Karen Voight's Yoga Focus (included in her Sleek Physique ).

Shiva Rea's yoga CD's ( Yoga Sanctuary and Yoga Chant ) have sun salutation tracks but they are easy to skip -- she holds poses for a nice length of time.

Ana Forrest's Strength & Spirit (both CD and VHS) has some interesting sequencing without sun salutations. I have a little trouble with her voice though.

That's all I can think of for now -- not enough coffee yet.

Suzanne Deason's Yoga for Weightloss is a really nice yoga class.
There isn't even a downward facing dog in it! LOL! But it moves at a gentle and steady pace - has beautiful scenery and is always energizing.

Candlelight Yoga

Candlelight Yoga is one loong relaxing program. I just scanned through it and no sun salutations. There's down dogs, tree pose, lunges and twists. It's my kind of yoga, nothing power and just stretches me wonderfully.

The 60 minute Yoga Zone tapes that are not labeled power yoga or fat burning do not have sun salutations. One or two have a modified version done once or twice so slowly that you won't feel like you're doing a sun salutation. I think the Yoga Zone tapes require less flexibility than other tapes.

Yoga Zone for Fat Burning

Believe it or not, no sun salutations either, but it still burns. Two twenty-minute routines, and usually they alternate between two poses then have you hold one. Pretty rough! I definitely wouldn't use this on my relaxing day

Also, Karen Voight's Yoga Sculpt doesn't have any Sun Saluations either, and the poses are held for a long enough time (in my opinion). I think there is a split re: this workout- some people feel like it's too easy, others feel like it's challenging. I'm definitely in the second camp.

Also, slightly different, Total Yoga Earth technically does have some Sun Salutations, but they're very modified. I think it's just forward bends to downward dog, no planks- I'm almost positive that's it. And White Lotus is always very good about holding their poses for a very long time, as well as giving you a nice long relaxation period.

All I can think of for now,
Deb

I'll second Suzanne Deason's Yoga for Weightloss and add her Yoga Conditioning for Women. Although it does have the occasional down dog, there are only a few and the rest is either all standing/balance poses or floor poses. The second segment of Rodney Yee's Yoga for Energy is all standing poses, no down dogs.
