Question Have you cancelled your land line phone?

I know this question has come up before. We often consider cancelling our land line. It doesn't work half the time anyway. Still, we'd have to change the number on so many accounts to our cell numbers, which would be a pain.

If you have cancelled your land line, what have been the advantages and disadvantages?

TIA!

We have. Nobody calls anybody anymore. Well, except the solicitors or politicians.

My only concern is that I have 2 kids at home yet. We purchased a cheap phone for "emergencies" that is always missing. It should always be on the charger, but, kids.

Friends of mine have expressed concerns about the reliability of mobile phones but we use Verizon as our carrier and have very few issues.

DH felt like we were going to have the mobile phones....why keep a land line (or LAN line) we weren't using?

We haven't had a land line for many years. As soon as we got our first smart phones and we could use the internet on them or through the hotspot we cancelled the land line and home internet. We've never missed the land line, but we also don't have kids to worry about.

I still have my landline. It is part of my internet package. My cell sits next to it. I don't carry my cell around with me unless I am leaving the house.

Cancelling our landline about 4 years ago was the best thing ever. The only calls we ever got were sales and political. Wasn't too hard to change accounts to cell phone numbers, just took a bit.

I cancelled ours a year or so ago after an all day ordeal of endless calls from the solicitors and scammers. No one else called us on the landline. Unfortunately, my landline was part of the Comcast "package", so eliminating it didn't save us any money. We do have our peace and quiet though. I hate Comcast, but I don't have too many choices here.

I thought we were the only ones left who do that.

I’m keeping mine.
It does come with the internet service
There is only 3 dollar difference in my bill to keep it. So I will. I also had to have a landline for ADT
When I want to buy something with amazon prime video, that’s the number they use

I live alone so I still trust that phone to be available if I forget or just don’t plug in my phone at night .

I give contacts my cell number and I love to be able to block solicitors at election time or when they try to sell you windows or solar I can block them on my cell

If I fall and can’t get up there always be a phone in what ever room I’m in.

I love my home line number but the cell company is not the same as the land line and I want to keep that number.

I use the land line for business. Drs, credit, car anything that could come after me. Lol.

If your close you get my cell. And then, I still only answer when I want to

We haven't had a landline since 2001. It's never been an issue not having one.

We still have a land line. I still find it more comfortable to have a long phone conversation on a land line receiver than on a cell phone.

I guess I'm in a minority in that I have a few long phone conversations each week because 3 of my closest GFs live away from me. One friend lives in a remote area with sketchy cell phone reception & we talk 3+ times/week. (Of course her land line is also unreliable, but more dependable than the cell.)
