I'll be on crutches for 6 weeks :)

So I had to get my original hip replacement revisioned on Thursday. They had to take he metal out and replace it with ceramic. It was a preventive surgery, I had no problem at all except the rising metal level in my blood. I was actually training for the surgery like crazy.
It went well, according to the surgeon I will regain all my strength and mobility in time. AS of now it is not 100 only 20 percent weight bearing, so Im on crutches for 6 weeks. It's a challenge but I love challenges... Looking forward to get nice triceps by the end of the 6 weeks!
Thank you for listening guys, just wanted to share.
Any good advice/tip for the crutch time?

Wishing you a speedy recovery, what a great attitude to have!

It might be a great time to work on meditation or reading or maybe some new and healthy cooking...just some quiet or contemplative things we normally don't make the time for in our busy lives.

You have such a great attitude! I agree with violingal, focus on those mental and meditative aspects of fitness. Additionally, you can probably work on your upper body. There are lots of seated workouts on youtube.

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Good thing they saw the rising metal levels in your blood before it became a problem.

I'm currently doing the seated thing as well, and have found some creative things on YouTube, like Adrian Bryant and Pahla B.

Lots of healing vibes to you!

Do you have range of motion limitations or are the crutches solely to prevent weight-bearing?

Having been through knee surgeries that required 6 weeks of non-weight-bearing, I had the best recovery (and kept my sanity) when I was able to go to the pool and do deep water running. It has to be a deep enough pool so your feet don't touch the bottom, and wearing a flotation belt helps. Once I got off the crunches, my recovery time was fast.

Good luck!
