Oh, I'm in trouble now. Great site! I had no idea Orthaheels actually made shoes, I just thought they made inserts. In fact the ONLY heels I can wear comfortably for an extended length of time are Clarks with Orthaheel inserts. And now I know they make actual shoes...! Thank you - I think

Separately, for summer, I am a big fan of Chaco sandals and flip flops.
Those Gandias are wicked cute and just right for spring/summer. I'm going to have to track down a place I can try them on in person. I also like Chacos, but the ones I have are about as un-dressy as you can get. But they have great arch support and are incredibly sturdy.

Has anyone had good experiences with the J-41 brand? I've been wanting to try them for awhile (I like that they are made from recycled materials!), and my dad just gave me birthday money. These are the ones I like:

Famous Footwear is supposed to carry them, so I thought I would try a local store this weekend; even if I wind up ordering online, returns are accepted in their stores, so I may take a chance.

I'm always looking for "ethical" shoes, I'll have to look into these.

Beth, I'm just about to order some J-41s (the Forest sport flat). My friend has a pair and says they are really comfortable. I think they look adorable!

Emily, those are cute too! I tried on a pair in Marshalls last month that I liked, but they were a bit more strappy/open than what I wanted. Otherwise, they were comfortable, VERY cushy (I think they use memory foam), and fit true to size (for me).

These probably aren't really considered pretty, but I love them:

They are comfortable right out of the box, and they are frequently on sale. I normally need a wide width, but I did not need them for these shoes.

Sherry - I want pair of Keens similar to those for the lake and summer trail walks.

Pam, I bought them as an alternative to Keens since they are a lot less expensive. I found the sandals from Kohls to be very supportive and comfortable.

Of course they are already out of my size in the two colors I want (red and turquoise) and it's only May. I hope they will get more in and put them on sale again. I bought them in black, navy and gray last summer.
