Yesterday I got more than 17k steps on my phone, or almost 8 miles. DH and I took a 2.5 mile walk in the morning. Then I went shopping for groceries at a couple of stores. Then I took DD for socially-distanced trick-or-treating. People put their candy out at the end of their driveways on tables. Most of it was in goodie bags for easy grabbing. Some people sat outside to greet the kids from a distance. Many houses did not participate and had lights off. A few had lights on but no candy out front, so we didn't go to those. We are having DD wait until today to eat the candy just for extra safety.
We also sat with neighbors socially distanced in the middle of the cul de sac, with a firepit in the middle. Everyone brings their own beverages. This way we can chat but still be at least six feet away outdoors.
DH and I are starting a clean eating, dry November. Except for Thanksgiving Day, we will stick to it. We will have a cheat meal each week. I broached the idea because DH likes time goals and 30 days is doable for him. Then hopefully he will continue when he sees his progress. Doing it together will make it easier for both of us.
Lynn, I am so sorry for the stress and sadness you must be going through with your parents! Sending prayers up for you and them.
Diana, I agree that I wouldn't go to a gym right now--they are really germy no matter what kind of cleaning the staff is trying to enforce, and you can't really wear a mask and work out, so everyone will just be breathing freely everywhere. I also feel dressing up and driving to a gym is a waste of time for me, and working out without a video is more boring. I like to get my workout done, get my shower, and get on with things.
My sister's son, who is 20, got COVID a couple of weeks ago. He's in college. He was quarantined, which he hated of course, and he ended up with really bad symptoms, which he didn't think would happen to him (because he's a fit 20-year old male who thinks he's invincible, of course). Only about 8 or 10 students out of 4,000 got it at his school. His family knew he would get it at some point because of his casual attitude. Fortunately he's far away in another state from them.
Cynthia, I do walking workouts, yes, but I just haven't felt like it. I like a lot of the Jessica walks. I'm sure I'll be hitting some of those as the weather gets colder!
Linda, happy anniversary! What a sweet guy. And let me know what you think of Heather. She doesn't talk during the workouts. I actually really like her style--music, setting, and of course workout design. I already know form so I don't need to hear a bunch of chatter.
Cheryl
