How funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cat used to be like that - many years ago! He still like to get up on the weekends when we are trying to sleep in and play with the dresser handles. He usually gets a pillow or two tossed at him.

Back to the original question. I have never been an early riser but I can get up early to work out because it makes me feel so good (I do Pilates) and I tell myself that the extra hour of sleep that I would get does NOT make me feel as good as I do after I do Pilates. I remember all of the years practially sleeping in the shower - now I feel great and alert (and in control!) as I wash off the sweat!

Guilt prevention

My days often take on a life of their own (full of what I call "emergencies du jour"). If I get up and get my workout done before I do anything else, then I can silence that voice in the back of my mind reminding me I need to work out, or prevent me from feeling guilty if I can't get around to it.

Guilt is a big motivator with me - I went to Catholic school.

Still trying 2 yrs later....

Strange how this thread I started resurfaced
Working out in a morning has eluded me so far after various attempts, so here I am again trying to get up and get active first thing in a morning, over 2 years later
I'm not ambitious I just want to do 30 mins on my treadmill - nothing complicated - so I can enjoy a much longer yoga practice in the evening after a day at work. Hopefully this will be the additional incentive i need to keep the momentum going this time. Today is day 2 - only 98 to go

I jump out of bed really early every morning because I know once I exercise in the morning, my day will start off on a positive note and when I get home from work, I have time to myself and my exercise is out of the way. If I have to stop somewhere after work, it doesn't interfere with my workout. I also work out in the morning because I have a herniated disc and getting moving in the morning early on....helps my pain.

Wow!

I feel a little silly--just last week I started a thread in General Discussion on this very topic! (What gets you out of bed to do it?)

I didn't know this 2 1/2 year old thread was sitting in here...

Funny, when this one got started, I had a 6-month old baby, lived in a different ciry, and knew nothing about VF. Now I have a 3 yr. old and a 1 yr. old, and can't imagine life without VF!

I get up at 4:30 a.m. and just love the peacefullness of being the only one in the house that is out of bed...this is my time, where no one needs anything and I can have uninterrupted time for myself. Whether this is a good fitness tip or not...I set my coffee maker to go off about 15 minutes, before I get up and the smell of coffee makes me want to get up and have my first cup....I am a coffee addict.

I am 53. When I see someone who was much cuter than me in high school and now looks matronly, that is all the motivation I need!

I get up to work out! I love working out, and it's MY time ... actually the whole morning is my time; I get up even earlier so I can have a relaxed breakfast with a book after my workout. I used to have the most awful time getting out of bed when there was nothing to look forward to except work!

I needed this thread right now.I'm determined to start working out in the morning to keep my workouts on track. If you ladies can get up at 4:30, hopefully I can too!
