What happened to the "diet-free" zone?

This has been bothering me for a long time and it's the white elephant on the General Discussion boards. Seems like any time anyone asks about workouts, you get a least the bulk of those comments saying nothing works without diet. Can we just stick to talk about workouts and skip the mention of diet here please?

they can say the word. That's not against the rules. but it still holds that people think it's all about just exercise. We know it's not so it's probably just habit to say diet included without talking about what the person is eating. I really didn't read the white elephant but just wanted to comment that the word is okay.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my interpretation of the rule was that we weren't allowed to talk about "diets" as in specific diets so that we didn't have people pushing Atkins or South Beach or Zone or whatever the hot trend is right now. I thought talk about the foods we eat (aka our daily diet) was ok while talk about specific diet PLANS was not. Am I off on this?

The word is OK, but I have to agree with IvysMom, if anyone posts about weight loss there has to be at least 2 pages of people saying "oh, it's all about diet, it's all about diet, it's all about diet."

I think we all know that now. lol.

(that said, people are certainly free to post what they want no matter how many times it has been posted before! I just skip weight loss threads because they're usually so repetitive that way.)

No one is discussing diets per se, but one's nutritional input is very important and does play a huge role in health, not just weight loss. I don't think it hurts to add that reminder now and then, without getting specific or making recommendations.

I agree, and most references I have seen to "diet" on the forum refer to healthy eating habits. But I have seen the occasional post that pushes the edge of the envelope too. I love the recipe box and have picked up some very tasty and healthy recipes there.

Ditto.

The word diet is not a dirty word and there's nothing wrong with saying/writing it.
