Kundalini Yoga for Summer 2020!

We’re trying to stay safe and healthy during the Summer of the Pandemic. And a yoga practice can help to soothe body, mind, and soul. So let’s do it!

This is a check-in thread for anyone who is trying to add regular Kundalini yoga to their lives (either as a sole form of exercise or along with other types of exercise). It doesn't matter if you're doing it with dvds, on your own, in live classes, etc. Anyone that wants to try adding regular kundalini to help achieve their goals of fitness, health and well-being is welcome (as well as those who are just interested in the possibility).

Sat Nam!

Hello Yogis,
I see it has been a quiet month on this check-in, still I appreciate knowing this community is here, and I am wishing everybody well! I don't post often but felt moved to connect today. Kundalini yoga has been a real lifeline for me this past month. I'd been feeling pretty low with all that's going on in the world, and I've taken to doing at least a short segment of KY two times a day. (previously was doing just a morning practice). My short go-to's these days are segments from Raviana's Dr. Yoga House calls (warm-up, Immunity booster, Inflammation Relief, Amazing Minute Breath); Quick Fixes (warm-up, Delete Depression, Minute Breath); AM/PM yoga (PM segment, stress-free breath). Even just a few minutes has been helping me feel more balanced; I feel like the brief afternoon practice helps me to carry it through. I'm remembering a quote from one of Maya Fiennes videos, (paraphrasing) "we have all the medicine we need within us, we just need to know how to access it." So grateful for these practices. Blessings everyone!

Thanks for reviving the thread, Jo! I have been getting in some short practices too. I have had some major shoulder issues which are finally improving, and I am finding that the Kundalini practices are feeling so good. Not to mention the stress management aspect. I'm trying to get a short practice in every morning, even if its some brief exercise on my own.

I recently got a new dvd player (a cheap model, but they all seem cheap these days) and for some reason it will not load Quick Fix. That is my most used Raviana , especially for the warmup section. I'm going to have to look around their streaming site and see if it is listed there.

Sending healthy wishes to all .

Hi everyone! My July did not turn out as anticipated. The humidity takes the life out of me. And COVID and all that. As we enter August I'll give it all another try!

Happy birthday Gale!!! I'm sorry to hear your shoulder has gotten so bad.

Thank you for starting the check-in Carolyn. Hi Jo, welcome!

Gale, I'm glad you feel your shoulder improving and you found practices that work for you! I also love breath practices for stress management (and occasionally dancing it out to some of Raviana's weirdly cool cardio segments). How frustrating that your new dvd player won't play your most used Raviana! I've worn out 2 of my Raviana discs (from overuse?) to the point where they sounded wobbly in my dvd player and I replaced them for fear of damaging the dvd player (yes, I kept them for emergency back-up). But I've never had the player reject them. Sorry about that.

Pat, I. totally. get. that. energy-sapping humidity, Covid, all that. I appreciate how you are looking forward - this too shall pass! Glad you were able to get a little into your mix last night. I hope it felt nice.

I started my day with Eion Finn Blissology Tuesday, followed by Amazing Minute Breath. I think I'll do Dr. Yoga warm-up now, and another breath-based segment to be determined.

Thanks for the warm welcomes and positive wishes! Best to all!

Good morning and TGIF. It was nice to get a flavor of Ravi and Ana again so last night I dusted off Bliss Hips and did the warmups, hip opening and relaxation sets, then inverted.

I had a revelation while doing the closing prayer. I wonder if my Kundalini desert was a result of the intense healing prayers I sent to my sister before she died. Maybe I just needed to let that energy rest.

Jo that sounds like a nice yoga routine. That's a good idea to incorporate at least some breath work.

Speaking of Kundalini and prana - I saw via Facebook that Ravi and Ana set up a YouTube page with breathing sets. I and others went to subscribe but it wasn't working right. I can't find that post now.

Thanks for the happy birthday wishes, Pat
Yesterday I did most of Yoga Beauty Body, up to Sat Kriya. I am working at home and did it on a break, but needed to get back to work. Plan to work something in today.
I would love to see more of Raviana on Youtube!

Hi, It's funny, I notice as I've been feeling better I've slacked off a little on my KY consistency. I do want to commit here to doing at least one pranayama practice a day, for the month of August.

Pat, I am so sorry for the passing of your sister. may she rest in peace, wishing peace to you and your family. Your revelation is very interesting, it sounds like your inner wisdom knows what is needed and you are in touch with it. I find that very inspiring. Thank you also for the mention of the Raviana YouTube page, I will be checking for that.

Happy birthday Gale! Hope it was pleasant!

Off to see which Raviana dvd speaks to me

Today (Monday) I did Yoga for Energy and Super Radiance in the morning - I haven't done this one in a while and really connected with it today. I did PT exercises during the Radiance salutation (the continuous bowing is not best for my back, though I love the music), and just one of the mantras (Solar). This was the most complete practice I've done in a while and it felt good. This afternoon I did 15 minutes of Eion's Blissology Monday, and a few minutes of alternate nostril breathing.

(Editing this to add my daily KY, so as not to create too many new posts)

Tuesday - did the AM sections of AM/PM yoga plus amazing minute breath in the morning; did Dr. Yoga warmup, Immunity Booster, and Amazing Minute Breath again
Wednesday morning - Yoga for Energy and Super Radiance; PM, amazing minute breath
Thursday thru Sunday - keeping up daily pranayam and yoga practice
Sunday thru Wednesday (8/12) - ditto
