Just saw this thread, Sherry. I was upset reading from the beginning but feel much better now. I choose HOPE. You have more time with Bonkers and that's a very good thing.

Our little guy is back home from the vet. We thought he would sprint up the stairs, but he has been staying on the main level of the house, using the scratching post and eating and just exploring. His little sister Mila greeted him with kisses, and our cat Huck hissed at him and ran away-just what we expected.

The vet thinks the cancer could be from an injection. She said this only happens in cats, not dogs, and it is fairly rare (sigh...). She feels that there really isn't a reason to put him through more surgery. She said it didn't look like the cancer spread, but only more surgery would let us know for sure. We are not going to do that. She also said cancer treatment for cats generally does not have a good outcome. For some reason it is more successful for dogs.

We are going to hope he will have more time with us and enjoy every minute of it.

Thanks for all the love, support and encouragement. I really appreciate it.

I'm glad he is reunited w/ his friends! I hope that you have many happy years with him. I agree that it isn't worth putting him through more surgery. I hope they got it all and everything turns out fine.

Glad that Bonkers is home! That's a big and positive step for all of you.

My understanding is that some kinds of cancer in cats can be treated fairly successfully, or that there can be palliative care that gives you more time. I'm sure you've discussed all of this with your vet. I'm glad you've got some more time with Bonkers, and hope it will be a lot more!

Thanks Donna and Christine.

Christine-the vet said she did not think we should put Bonkers through treatment. She said it would be very hard on him and not extend his life very much.

So glad Bonkers is home with his family & loved ones!

I hope you all will have many more years together, he knows you all love him (& we on VF do too!) & feels that in his heart.

Bless you all, hugs & gentle ear rubs to Bonkers kitty! <3
