Question Beginner/Low Intermediate YOGA videos with Mirror Cueing?

I've been adding more yoga for the summer. I need mirror cueing. (What can I say, my vintage brain is defective...)

Slower, gentler yoga practices are my thing lately. I don't enjoy endless sun salutations or warp speed power yoga. (What can I say, my vintage body is defective...)

Any suggestions of beginner/low intermediate yoga videos where the instructor mirror cues would be greatly appreciated.

TIA!

Anything from Yoga Zone should fit the bill. Most are 20 minutes or so (there are a few longer practices available) and always mirror cued. The Power Yoga DVD wouldn't suit you, but the Intro to Power Yoga (no sun salutations) would. There are many to choose from and they can often be found on youtube.

Thanks, Starbelly! I have some Yoga Zone vids in my collection. Time to re-visit them.

MJ525, I haven't heard of Tamal Doge. Are there any practices in particular that you would recommend?

Whoulda thunk there were so few yoga practices with mirror cueing?

I have the DDP Yoga set and Dallas mirror cues. You can tell it is difficult for him sometimes. And in Ultimate Yogi, Travis goes back and forth between mirror cueing and not. (It's kind of annoying - make up your mind!)

In live classes, most yoga teachers don't mirror cue. In fact, most yoga teachers don't stand up in front of the class and do the whole practice. They walk around the room instructing and adjusting, and demonstrating when necessary, sometimes from different places in the room in order to be more visible (i.e. demo on the left side of the room when the students are facing left). So most yoga teachers don't learn to mirror cue (unless they started out as general fitness instructors).

In videos, if there are multiple cameras showing different angles, mirror cuing can be more confusing than not, at least for me. I can see where vidiots who are very accustomed to mirror cuing might want it even when the camera angle is different, because you're just used to doing the move with your right foot when the instructor is on his left (for example).

Don't get me wrong, I totally understand why you want it and you're in great company - I'm just explaining why it is not the norm in yoga.

The Element Yoga for Energy and Relaxation (with Tamal leading) is my favorite one by him. I LOVE the relaxation practice!!

Thanks for the explanation of the lack of mirror cueing for yoga practices. It now makes sense to me.

When I first started adding yoga practices last year, I tried to "translate" the practice into mirror cueing for myself. However, this was more frustrating and I just returned to following the instructions as they are given.

Err, I rarely bump threads, but I'll give it one last shot...

I bought the Element Yoga one with Tamal one and like it. Thanks, Jenilu!

Any others with mirror-cueing?

Sara Ivanhoe might mirror cue. It has been so long since I've used her DVDs, but I think she does. Also, Karen Voight probably does, too. Oh, and Ashley Turner, another Element instructor. She has a Yoga for Stress Relief and Flexibility that is nice. I like the stress relief practice on that one--but not so much the flexibility practice.

Sorry I don't know for sure if the above mentioned are mirror cuers, but I thought I could at least bump the thread for you and maybe someone who reads this will know for sure.

I did one of Sara Ivanhoe's Yoga Body Makeover practices a week or so ago. She does mirror cue there.
