Barefoot & On the Mat 9/15-21: Peace Day Edition!

Hi all!

Welcome to the weekly Barefoot & On the Mat check-in thread. We are a cozy, friendly group who enjoy a wide variety of workouts but who have a special appreciation for those traditionally done without footwear. If you regularly include yoga, pilates, barre, qi gong, Classical Stretch/Essentrics, Ellen Barrett, Tracy Anderson, etc. into your fitness life -- or even if you just like to shuck your shoes for more traditional exercise -- you will feel right at home!

Please feel free to join in. We always love hearing from new, returning, and guest Mat Mavens!

Hello again!

The United Nations International Day of Peace is Saturday, September 21.

Once again I'm not posting my week as there is barely any activity to list (have been getting over a cold). I did manage nice workouts on Friday and Saturday, and now that I'm mostly healthy again I want to get back into the groove this coming week. Also, our weather here is finally taking a turn to cooler temps -- that, and the fact that the start of fall is just around the corner (9/23), give me encouragement!

Sandra, I like the idea of an International Day of Peace. We need more peace!!!

I did the yoga on the ropes class/workshop today; it was a lot of fun! I'll add a few photos to my albums shortly. I think I am going to be sore tomorrow!

Be back shortly to check in...have to fold some laundry first.

Okay I'm back. I did add a few shots from today's class to my Yoga Poses album.

I had another sort of mixed/petered out week.

Monday
30MTF TLC - Workout #1, Boxing
Tone & Tighten (YT) - Ab Workout (1 round; I'm also doing a daily ab challenge from T&T)
BodyFit by Amy (YT) - 8 minute Abs (this was a little easy, but I really like Amy)
Lucy Wyndham-Read (YT) - Abdominal Repair

Tuesday
OFF (book sale)

Wednesday
30MTF Build & Burn - Cardio, No Strength premix
Blissology - Weekend Yoga & Meditation

Thursday
in office: Yoga JP/Sherry Zak-Morris (YT) - Strong Legs Daily Sequence
TAUGHT yoga at college, yoga at studio
30MTF Split - Shoulders/Leg premix (wow, the "leg press" move in this one always gives me DOMS for days, even with just using 5# this time!)

Friday
Callanetics Express - Full Body Express; Stretch Express

Saturday most of this day was done to address leg DOMS and prepare for tomorrow!
Anita Goa (YT) - Foam Roller to Heal Hamstrings
Yoga Ranger (YT) - Yoga for Piriformus and Sciatica
Yoga with Kassandra (YT) - 30-minute Therapy Ball for Glutes & Quads (actually taught by Jenna Switzer)
Yoga Ranger (YT) - Myofascial Release for Hamstrings

Sunday
Yoga on the Ropes class*

*Note to cyana: we had a long shavasana at the end of class, and it finished with a series of rings on the gong; very nice!

Sandra: Thank you for starting our week, and I'm so glad you're beginning to feel better. And yes, I agree with Beth--we need more peace!

Beth: You had a great week! Those leg presses in Split Sessions always get me good, too. I had a mixed opinion on the Brady renovation show. Sorry to hear about the bad news. ((((HUGS)))) Great book sale finds.

Anny: Glad to see you beginning to move again. Just take it one day at a time.

Cyana: So sorry to hear about the insomnia.

Carolyn: Hope the final part of the transplant goes smoothly.

Paine: How's the move going?

Here was last week:

Sunday:
CLX Lean Circuit 3 (1/2 way through the Lean phase!)
Short Mow Max (about 30 minutes)

Monday:
TAUGHT Step class

Tuesday:
No workout (planned rest day)

Wednesday:
CLX Lean Circuit 1

Thursday:
CLX Dynamic Flow Yoga (from the Deluxe set; I was able to acquire this through eBay...I enjoyed this much more than Recharge, although it felt more strength and less stretch to me)
TAUGHT Barre and HiiT classes

Friday:
CLX Lean Circuit 2

Saturday:
CLX Burn Intervals, then stretched on my own

I'll be back to post my evening workout. This upcoming week will mark my final week of the Lean phase, and my LAST WEEK of Chalean Extreme!! I never thought I would have made it this far.

Garrie, I was going to ask you if those leg presses affected you too; glad to hear I am not alone! When I saw your response to me, my first thought was "what bad news?" - I guess I have bounced back. Truth is that the work stuff is ongoing right now, but the good thing is that I'm less concerned about it given that I'm feeling more confident with my new boss.

Beth: I've been MIA through most of last week's check-in. It was a crazy week, as had to take my car to the repair service twice--TWICE--in the same week. They had to put in a new radiator, but then two days later I found my car overheating and leaking antifreeze. The water pump was leaking. I also forgot to mention that I liked your new yoga pics! That looks fun. When I did a TRX suspension training I was crazy sore.
