Jill Miller's Post Athletic Stretch vs Karen Voight's Full Body Stretch

OK, so I'm trying to decide which of these to get in Mary's sale. I do love Jill Miller but I don't do any of the sports that she targets in this stretch DVD. It looks good though! I was wondering, for those who have it, how long she holds the static stretches? Same question for KV's DVD. I'm looking for something that will help with flexibility, particularly in the lower body.

Thanks

Emma

Hi Emma - She doesn't hold them for very long...maybe somewhere in the 10 second range or so (give or take). I don't really do any of the sports that the segments are targeted for either. I use this sometimes after my kettlebell workouts and all segments work pretty nicely for those.

Wow, those are two very different DVDs.

I've written extensive reviews of both. I'll link to both but note a few things that may be useful to you.

Post Athletic Stretch
I don't really do any of the sports on here, although I have done the cycling after spin classes. The Running practice would probably closest to what you're looking for in terms of a focus on lower body flexibility with some static holds, but her holds aren't particularly long, maybe no more than 15-20 seconds.

Full Body Stretch
The Slow Stretch segment is probably more what you're looking for here, although there are upper body moves included as well, and in fact I felt Full Body Stretch actually did a nice job with spinal mobilization more so than lower or upper body flexibility. Karen's holds are slightly longer than Jill's, but no more than 20-30 seconds.

Thanks for posting those reviews - really helpful. Think perhaps Jill's DVD is not for me at the moment, though I do love her.

I haven't done the Karen V, but given her past ones, she's great for "yummy" stretching.

I do have Jill's PAS, and the benefit of it is that the practices (20 mins) are great for frequent use, and that is what you need to do to build flexibility. I do do the sports listed, and quite honestly, the biking and running are both great for lower-body flexibility.

Practicing for shorter workouts, but more frequently, will do more for your flexilibility than long practices less frequently. (Both are great, if you can swing it)
