Question Essentrics Question

For a future rotation I want to work on flexibility and overall injury prevention type of workouts. I will likely rotate thru Travis' Ultimate Yogi. I don't know much about Essentrics and have recently purchased my first few Callanetics workouts with Lacey Kondi. How are Essentrics and Callanetics different from barre (I've done only Suzanne Bowen's barre work for reference). Barre sometimes bothers my feet and lower back. How are Essentrics, Barre and Callanetics different and which would be best to complement my UY workouts?

Thanks!

Hi!

Essentrics is a great compliment to barre, yoga, any fitness program. Although Essentrics does borrow from barre with their chair work, it isn't a true barre program. Essentrics is about dynamic stretching (moving through the stretch). Simultaneous stretch and strength...and of course their mantra is "stretch, strengthen, rebalance".

I love how my body feels with this program....my back and hip pain is significantly reduces. I also love the attention Essentrics/Classical Stretch gives to feet and fingers...helps with plantar fasciitis and arthritis/carpal tunnel syndrome.

Check out your local PBS to see if they carry Classical Stretch, check your library for dvds, or try out the freebies on YouTube or at essentrics.com.
