We joined a terrific fitness center when we moved to Buffalo in October. My DH and I go 5 days a week. I tried using the rowing machine (a Concept 2) and I lovelovelove it! Since I am new at this I just row manually for 20-25 minutes and will start playing with some of the other options soon. I am careful about my form and so far, so good. Sometimes I hop on the elliptical trainer at the gym for 10 minutes after my rowing workouts for cross-training purposes. My enthusiasm for the elliptical is tepid at best, but I loved the rowing machine the first time I tried it. Fortunately it is not a popular machine at the gym so I can almost always get on one of them (the gym has two, as opposed to about 9 treadmills, 6 or 7 ellipticals, 8 or so bicycles and 2 stair climbers.)

I've been doing body weight workouts 3X a week and the rowing machine 2X a week, plus outdoor walking. I feel great.

What about a recumbent bike? Would that work? Had a ski machine, but my XH took it when we got divorced. Would love to have a Concept 2, but no money and no space.

I could do something like that! My challenge goal would be: practice rowing 4x per week.
