Ooh, off to check this one out!

I have these but haven't really dived into them yet. This may be the push I need!

The people who have been putting out the Yoga / Pilates / Stretching / Strength Training Anatomy books put a 3rd edition of the Strength Training Anatomy out last year and a Strength Training Anatomy Workout edition this year (it has suggested exercises for the body parts). The Pilates Anatomy book in this series is actually new, too, and is by Rael Isacowitz.
Costco has been carrying several of these titles, just as an FYI.

Very good info, and it's hot off the press. I just wish there were a work-along DVD to go with it!
I sprained my back a few days ago and got this as an enhanced e-book that includes video of some of the exercises. You can sort of work along with it, but a DVD would be even better. I tried the basic workout today and my back is feeling good. It's an interesting book.

They have a youtube channel with 4 videos at http://www.youtube.com/user/DoAFounder

I also recommend the Women's Health Big Book of Exercises, great book!

I'm actually doing this program now; I'm late in the second phase. Despite the name it has no classic "ab" exercises in it (unless you call swiss ball pikes a traditional ab exercise...). The thinking and program design is pretty current, IMO. Very pleasant surprise.

That's good to know! This is in the pipeline for me. I also have Cressey's Maximum Strength (not new, but IIRC you at least looked at it and played with a few of the workouts, Kyra), and I'm kind of curious how these two would pair up together.

I still want to do Cressey! I have kept him on hold because I've been so sucked into running, and have wanted to keep up my distance. Cressey says, and I frankly believe him, that distance running and MS are not really compatible - you won't get the most out of either if you try to combine them. If all of my race plans for the year go according to Hoyle, I will get to him later this fall or early winter.

I think you'd like NROL/Abs. It is much better than previous books in this series (including, peripherally, FBB) about giving variations for the exercises, so you can figure out what works for you and grow from there. They also expect you to do other stuff during the program, so it works well if you have other interests/physical hobbies.

I sent an email to Dr Goodman telling him how great I thought his book was but wished he would make a DVD and here is his prompt reply:

"We are certainly going to make videos. As we just released the book this past week we are going to let the word spread a bit. This is a very new and unique type of exercise, it will be nice to let people read the idea and science behind it. We have some very interesting videos and options coming out soon. Thank you so much for your interest, always feels good to get feedback! Lot's coming soon!

Eric"

He sure seems like a real nice guy! Now I can't wait.

Thanks to Kathryn and Danielle for enabling on Foundation.
I bought the enhanced e-book (for my iPad), and am finding it very interesting.
I like the short videos of the exercises which are embedded in the text - very cool!

Of course a video would be great!
Normandy - thanks for asking, and sharing the info. Goodman does sound like a nice-guy.

Cool, I've never heard of Foundation Training. It looks like it includes exercises similar to many that I perform in power yoga and Pilates.

Links for anyone else who is interested:

About The Foundation

Livestrong: This Way to Better Posture

10-Minute workout from Lance Armstrong's Trainer

(As an aside, I don't understand the instructions for #5, the hip flexor stretch. From a long lunge, you are supposed to "bend your torso back and away from the rear leg to stretch the side of the body." How can I bend my torso back *and* away from my rear leg? Anyone wanna take a stab at explaining it to me? )
