Where to sell fitness gear? (Not Craig's List!)

Hello!

I have lots of fitness gear to sell. Most of it is large/heavy and would require local pickup only. I tried listing on Craigslist this weekend and was scammed within 30 minutes so I am ALL SET! I deactivated my account! I am not a fan of ebay either. My experience with yard sales had been that you need to virtually give items away, in which case I would rather donate than go through the aggravation. Are there any other methods you would recommend for selling? This stuff needs to go so I can fit my car in my garage!

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Where are you located? There may be some local VFers willing to take stuff off your hands. There's also marketplace on FaceBook.

Does your town have a local buying/selling FB page? That's where I've moved to for selling locally.

OfferUp - Yes, there will be people who'll make lowball offers, but you can decline. I've never used it, but my brother lists things for my mom all the time and they've had good luck.
FB - my sister sells for my mom and has also never had a problem

Definitely marketplace or through social media ties. My sister does a crazy amount of shopping that way. Play it Again Sports has given me a credit slip for equipment---I usually buy other fitness stuff there so that works for me.

what about Ebay, but limit buyers to local sales only?

I’ve had good experiences selling locally on Facebook Marketplace and through the VarageSale app.

Thumbs up

Oh wow, this is a great thread!! I use Craigslist all the time (so sorry you got scammed. I just find there are a lot of timewasters there, but have learned how to weed them out somewhat) or Freecycle to give things away. Have also purchased from Play it Again. Some towns have Sports Swaps but obviously, all these in-person meet-ups are being postponed at this time.
Now I see there are new places for me to check out!!!

Unfortunately, Facebook Marketplace has taken over Craigs List as the most effective way to sell things. I say unfortunately since i do not have a Facebook account and nor do I want one!
