A VF fitness TV trivia challenge. . .

Can we VFers compile a list of EVERY fitness show that has ever existed??

The oldest one I am aware of is the Jack LaLanne show. Then there's Bodies in Motion with Gilad, Lilias Yoga, Body Electric with Margaret Richards, Denise Austin's show, Cathe was on Discovery Health for a while. . . .

I know there are probably DOZENS more! Oh, just thought of Caribbean workout with David Snively.

So help me out! We have librarians here and we are fitness trivia experts!! Some of us are older than others and that might be helpful too.

Body Shaping!

Kiana Tom!

Fitness Pros!

Keep 'em coming, ladies.

Remember Hip Hop Body Shop? I actually saw some of the tapes in Tower Records today.

Oh - Lots of Shows !!!

There was Fit TV, which featured Petra Kolber and Tamilee Webb - among others - and Body by Jake. What was Bess Motta's show - 30-Minute Solution or something like that? And of course Crunch Fitness.

How about Joanie Greggains? I don't remember what her show was called either. Then there was It Figures with Charlene Prickett. Oldies but goodies!

Wasn't there someone with long blond hair that worked out by herself? Wow - my memory is going ! Oh, and Sit and Be Fit.

How could you forget...

...20 Minute Workout? I used to love Bess Motta. Hmm, that *was* an exercise show, wasn't it? I seem to remember a lot of hair flipping and arched backs. LOL.

Also, does anyone remember the show Alive & Well? (Johnny Carson's ex-wife was one of the co-hosts.) Kathy Smith did an exercise segment on this show. At the time I didn't know who she was, but loved her segments. I believe my oldest son was just born when this show was on the air - that would be about 1983.

Holy cow.

I used to watch ESPN's Bodyshaping when Cory Everson was the host, Charlene Prickett's It Figures, Bodies In Motion with Gilad and Basic Training with Ada (Gliad's sister).

And I started yoga way back in the late 70's with Lilias Folan's PBS series Lilias, Yoga and You.

Who could forget the grandaddy of TV fitness, Jack LaLane!

Alive and Well!

I used to race home from the office for this one. I enjoyed both Kathy Smith's segments and Linda Arkin's segments. Linda's were mostly yoga, but I think she also ventured into things like Feldenkrais. I really missed the show when it went off the air.

Isn't there a Method TV series? I've never seen it, but I'm sure I've read about there being one.

I have a video by Amy Esterhay that was filmed at a public TV station in Charlotte, and the cover says that she has a public TV show called Homestretch; guess that one would be on NC public TV.

Classical Stretch with Miranda Esmonde-White is on now in some markets, as is Marlon Braccia's yoga show (LA, SF and NYC, so I've never seen it).

How about...

"Aerobicise"- an "excercise" (if you want to call it that) show that was shown on Showtime in the early '80's. Actually, it was probably closer to soft porn than actual excercise- a lot of unseemly camera shots, women flipping their hair around...anybody want to admit that they've actually exercised to this?!

Homestretch

I loved Homestretch and taped it everyday. She would have made a great crosstrainer. She rotated step,hi/lo and weights day to day. When her show went off the air, I ordered 3 of her tapes at 29.95 a pop......

There is a kickbox show os TSN. Wai Lana has a show that I see from time to time. And there is a French woman with pigtails who is possibly the same woman that does all the French tapes I saw in Montreal when I was there---she seemed to be the French equivalent of Kathy Smith---she had numerous videos of all different categories...Josee something?

I used to love the Fitness Pros on ESPN. I can remember Tamilee Webb, Tracy York, Pepper Von but can't remember the fourth guy.
