Welcome! Step number one is to join a checkin. It'll keep you accountable, and you'll get to know the checkin members more intimately... They'll feel more real to you, and thereby make the accountability more effective.

Don't let people tell you to hold onto your credit card, this habit doesn't need to be that way, ok?

Hi everyone!

I am a long-time "lurker" here and have learned so much from all of you. I think it's time I finally introduced myself.

I am 45 and have been exercising at home on and off for the past 9 years. In 2010 I injured my right quadricep and was out of commission for a few months with regard to exercising. Unfortunately, I "fell off the wagon" entirely and stopped exercising for about 3 years and, along with not paying much attention to what I was eating, I gained 30 pounds in that time.

Last September, I decided enough was enough and started exercising again and also became very mindful of what I was eating. As of this post, the 30 pounds I gained have been lost (and I don't plan to ever find them again, lol) and I am back down to a size 4 from a tight 12/loose 14.

I try to work out daily. My current favorite strength workouts are Jari's Slim and Lean, To the Core, and Ripped and Chiseled. I rotate the original Ripped and Ripped 1000 in once in a while, and when pressed for time the Weights and Abs segment from Lean Machine is perfect! I have Get Extremely Ripped but have not tried it yet. Ellen Barrett, Rodney Yee, and Christi Taylor are my favorites for fusion/yoga/cardio workouts, respectively. I just dusted off my Bar Method dvds (Fat Free and Designer Sculpting) and added them into my rotation about two weeks ago.

I am looking forward to continuing to learn from and be inspired by all of you!

Stephanie

Stephanie - Welcome out of lurkdom. And, congrats on the weight loss. It sounds like you are doing well. Feel free to jump in wherever.

Hi everyone. I just recently found this forum (don't even remember how) and joined and while I normally just sit back and lurk, figured the best would be to just jump right in from the beginning.

I'm 48 soon to be 49 years old. Started working out about 7 years ago when I quit smoking and needed something to help with the quitting. I have never belonged to a gym (don't feel comfortable) and have only done video workouts. My main ones that I have done have been Beachbody ones (P90X, Insanity, Aslyum, P090X2, T25, Les Mills) and currently started TurboFire. I purchased PIYO, but unfortunately will be sending that one back because while I enjoy the flexibility, just not enough for me. I have done other videos here and there by others also. Staying fit as I get older is important to me.

While I have read a bunch here, there is soooo much information and am so glad to have found a place that I can learn about other workouts and find like minded people. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Welcome IceQueen07!

I'm a lover of most things Beachbody as well. Be prepared that as you post your credit card may get just as much of a workout as you!

Hi IceQueen,

Welcome to VF. If you want to get to know a small group, check out the Check Ins and Challenges section. That's where small groups check in with each other. Each one is set up based on what the group decides. If you decide you want to join one, just post in it and introduce yourself. Every check in is open for new members. It's a good way to hold yourself accountable, if that's what you want.

Your age group is well represented here on VF. I look forward to seeing you adding your experience!

Hi,

I want to introduce myself as i'm a newly registered member. My name is Penny and i have been enjoying the wealth of information on this site for quite sometime now and wanted to be part of this community!!!

I am at a point in my life where i really want to focus on getting healthy.
Last July began my most serious attempt to date, i ate healthier and exercised every day straight for about six months before a foot injury slowed me down to an eventual stop. I lost weight and felt great, but slowly returned to my wicked ways regaining half of the weight back and feeling like i let myself down once again.

As of yesterday, i have been back on track for a week. Again watching the diet and have either walked outside for 40 minutes, did a 30 minute Leslie Sansone, or 30 minute Debra Mazda and added on a 10 minute ab or butt workout.

I have a plethora of videos thanks mostly to you guys and really want to start using them!!!
