You are not a loser. I'm steady lurking on this thread, taking notes on workouts I DON'T want to try . The strength only workouts I can handle, but when you combine cardio and strength...out of my league lol!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have started looking at Fitness Blender. As requested, I'm writing back with some more details. Pre COVID19 I was getting a lot of upper body work from swimming, but now the pool is closed. I was also doing push-ups and light weights (Squeeze style) in an exercise class that is also now canceled. The workouts I have at home for toning are things like Kathy Smith's old Lift Weights to Lose Weight and the Fe Fit set. I have 3 pound weights, 5 pound weights, 8 pound weights, and 10 pound weights. One of the problems I have is that 5 pounds isn't heavy enough, but if I up the weight to 8 or 10 pounds I can' keep up with the pace of the workouts, and I give up. I also have bands, and a light kettlebell.

Unhappy

I have seen people attaching full water bottles to weights to increase the weight.

I have no idea how that emoji got there and I cannot seem to delete it.

That’s hard to get a good lower body workout with such light weights.
Do you have a backpack you can put some heavy books in as well?
You could do one-legged work.

Do you want total body workouts, or are okay with splitting things up?

If you really want to work out with a video, you could try Tracie Long. She moves at a more controlled pace than some, I find. Her newer ones are better but there are some good ones free on Amazon streaming, if you have Prime. If you want something that will work lower body even with those weights, Cathe Ripped with HIIT is good, if you can do Plyo.

I second Barlates for free on YouTube. I don’t click with her but many of them are challenging, and I think they all use light weights.

do you like traditional workouts or do you think you'd try something non traditional?

I'd purchase heavier weights and Cathe's 3 separate Ripped With HiiT workouts...the 2 upper body split workouts and then RWH Legs.

It is a bit unclear what your goals are. Your original post talked about both "toning" and losing strength. However, if you can't keep up with the pace with the lower weights you have it may be that your dvd choices are much more endurance rather than strength based. If you want to maintain muscle "tone" maybe something like one of Cathe's PHA workouts would work with what you have. But if you want to gain more strength, getting heavier weights and some slower paced strength workouts may be more appropriate.

I consider compound moves - you will get a better workout without upping your weights and you should be able to find something on youtube that works. I've been doing Heather Robertson's workouts and loving them. Jari Love has posted a bunch of workouts and she's definitely endurance/high reps!
