Outdoor yoga

I am seriously thinking about doing my post-run yoga outside under a tree. But being a germaphobe I keep thinking how I don't want my mat to lay on the grass where deer (and possibly the neighbor's dog) do their business. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of putting a sheet on the grass and my mat on top of it so I can throw the sheet in the washer. Or do I just need to get over it and get out there?? I probably think too much....

I did yoga outside once, with my mat on top of grass. Didn't like it. The area felt too squishy and uneven. I probably would have enjoyed it better on a flatter, less squishy surface.

you can simply wash your mat when done. maybe buy an extra mat to alternate between days.

putting a sheet on it might make it unsticky?

bubbles - I've done callanetics on the sand on the beach. it was very stable!

I hadn't thought about squishiness, bubbles. At least my post-run practice isn't standing, but that is definitely smthg to consider. There's no shade on the patio; otherwise, I could do it there.

Jeannine, I meant put the sheet down underneath the mat. I know if I have to wash the mat each time I won't do it outside bc of the extra effort. I'm sure I should wash them more often than I do. My feet don't seem nearly as icky as animal fluids!

I wouldn’t worry about the possible “animal fluids”. But I would worry about possibly getting dirt on my carpet if switching from outdoors to indoors. I have a mat that I use in my deck only and several others that I use inside on my living room carpet. My carpet is a light color and I don’t want to risk it getting dirty. I do the same thing with my workout shoes- certain pairs are only worn inside. When I walk outside I wear different ones.

I used to do enjoy doing yoga during my lunch hour outside on a quilt. I had a tiny portable TV that played VHS tapes!

I have several mats so was figuring on keeping one set aside for outdoor practices. I do the same thing with my shoes as you.

Vantreesta...I recently started doing floorwork outside and stretching out after my agility work outside.

I found a mat at home depot that's meant for a beach. Then my yoga mat on top of it.

It works great and is such a nice change of pace. It was near the patio furniture https://www.homedepot.com/p/Camco-60...2805/206813600

If I did yoga outside in the grass the grass would have to be cut very short; like golf course putting green short. I have done yoga in the park but in the pavilion area with a double mat.

I love yoga dvds set outside, but I know if I tried it, I would just get eaten alive by mosquitoes

I hope you find a set up that works well for you.
