Can I seal this?

I recently bought a half-circle foam roller to use to stretch my calves. Even though I thought it was fully closed-cell, the flat/cut side is not. It's rough and shedding and...gross. I don't want it shedding all over my house.

What do you think? Can I salvage it by sealing it somehow? Or is it a lost cause and I should just return it...!

It's this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LCTZXB9...t_b_asin_image

I'm currently looking at other options, but none are really forthcoming about design.

I wonder whether applying modge podge to a sheet of microfiber cloth over it would work?

I'd be afraid to use spray adhesive and not sure painting polyurethane over it would make it too stiff.

That stinks it's falling apart though

one of the photos in that link shows the lady with the flat side up - it's too blurry to tell if the surface is rough or not.

maybe other brands have better close-up photos. or maybe other VFers can chime in on brands that they have.

sometimes, chemicals in glue and other liquids on foam cause it to start melting - it's different than regular plastic. if it reacts this way, it might void her ability to return it.

i found this out the hard way when i was trying to do a craft project with foam - using glue to join 2 pieces together. i tried white glue (which didn't adhere) and then i tried crazy glue and that's when it started melting/eroding and causing a cavity.

Could you wrap it inside an old pillow case or two depending on length or sew a cover for it if that’s in your skill set?

Thanks all!

I've decided it's not worth the effort to modify. I'll return the half roll and get these yoga block ramps: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...VX0KJY0UC&th=1

This brand has two sizes: regular yoga block width and 13" wide. I'm thinking of going with the bigger. Anyone have any thoughts re: which you think would be best?

those are cool!

i don't have a yoga ramp per se, but instead, i use the following that my mom received when she was in the hospital - it's the 2 wedges on the right.

i use just 1 for my back, or under my hips or under my knees.
