Heat wave again, ew. Good day for a swim. But no. I learned the hard way that the pool is on a holiday schedule (which they do when school is closed, as it is this week) of lap swim 11 to 12:30; not 11:15 to 2:00 which I was expecting when I got there in my swimsuit and coverup at 11:28. Boo hoo. All dressed up and no place to go.

After I finished sulking, I did want to do something easy, b/c of the heat. Found it!

Check-in: Jaime Brenkus' Little Black Dress workout DVD for women over 50. This fellow is known for his 8 minute w/o's. I'm not sure when or why I bought this DVD from amazon, but I'm keeping it for lazy or feeble days. It has a daily 8-min w/o for 2 weeks (except for 3 rest days). It's very well chaptered: after any segment, it goes to the menu. The warm up, warm down (as he calls the cool down), and stretch are the same for every day. The stretch is 8 min. The warms are 1 min each, so today was 20 min. It uses light weights.

Off to rehearsal in San Jose, where it's even hotter.

Congratulations to Cynthia for completing the challenge! I feel the same way about my thighs as you do about your triceps, lol. I guess we have to be thankful for the strength and the parts that do actually look strong.

Today I did Jessica's Fusion Sculpt workout from Youtube, and I've worked pretty hard today with yard work, moving stuff, etc. I've gotten my steps in already. Pretty happy that I bought shrubs for $5/each at a nursery. They would be about $30 at Home Depot. Now I know why people travel and DIY this. But now we have to put them in. Glad DH will help.

Diana and Lynn, I hear you about the pain. My knee has been so sensitive and I'm wondering if it's related to the stress of life right now. I just want to do workouts that are gentle (like the fusion workout) and no-dread at this time. Diana, I'm glad the acupressure is helping you!

Check-in: Little Black Dress, day 2. I like this. I'm usually too wiped out after a San Jose rehearsal (I get home past my bedtime) that I don't feel like doing anything the next day. This was just right.

No workout today because of lots of other physical work. And the carpet cleaners came and that disrupted the opportunity. Plus it makes the house smell with the fragrances they use and I just can't work out in that. I'm getting my steps again today. Yesterday was kind of a record steps day. I will do something weights related again tomorrow.

Cynthia, that DVD sounds perfect for those days when a lot is going on!
