Good morning!

Gus is still gimpy - he did OK for the walk, then has been about three legged lame the rest of the day. We did our shortest path . The rain here changed to icy snow overnight - hopefully the roads are OK. I'll probably walk Gus in our neighborhood around the block. Tonight Adelija and I have tickets to screen a Nick Cage movie - I don't think it's out yet. I'm not sure if they take opinions in hand and edit the movie for the final release.

Laura, sorry about the client cancellation - I like seeing Zoom invites 10 minutes before my meetings, but don't expect them hours earlier.

Paula, I agree about the gym time vs home time, but I SWEAT a lot when I exercise - frankly I appreciate the gym cleaning up their floors and equipment mats after I exercise - I don't like the mess at home. (I do the gym equipment wipes). So far, I'm really not noticing much change in Gus with the drugs . I hope he gets better soon! Luckily I can get my bike in the back of my car pretty easily - I'm hoping to bike some park trails to get back into shape. I'll just hold off on the 30 mile paths that I used to do - I'll start with the loop trails I walk Gus on. Hope you got a good night's sleep and are feeling better!

Waves to all!

I swear these days just melt away. This morning, I got stuff done around the house after petting Polly for a long time because she pretty much wouldn't move from around my feet until she got what she wanted. This afternoon, I took DH to his PT appointment and went to my chiropractor. It had been two weeks since the last time I dropped in and my back feels better.

Anita - I'm sorry Gus is having so many problems. How was the movie. It seems like a while since Nick Cage has been in a movie.

Paula - I hope you slept better last night and had a better day today. What a welcome home you have had.

Good evening. I slept like a rock last night and was in bed close to 12 hours. However, I'm feeling quite a bit better today, I actually did about ten minutes of gentle stretching. Did a few things around the house that didn't require much, but it's progress - right?

Anita, so sorry Gus is having a such a hard time recovering. Too bad the drugs aren't helping. This is a pulled muscle right - not something more serious? How was the movie? It's been so long since we've been to a movie we don't even discuss it anymore. Now things are opening up again, we need to put that back on your things to do list. I hadn't thought about the at home mess of working out - I don't push myself hard enough to work up more sweat than can be absorbed by my clothes. Let's be frank, I rarely work up a sweat at all.

Laura, it's funny how days melt away and you don't feel as though much was done but that's OK - it's retirement. Plus petting Polly so she was happy is a necessity. Peting your cat lowers your blood pressure or something like that - it's good for you both.

Good morning!

Planning on walking Gus in our neighborhood again - shorter walk and no jumping out of a car. I'm hoping that is better for his hip. He's still gimpy . We saw The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent last night with Nick Cage - it's coming out in about a month. Adelija really liked it! It was an ironic action movie - funny in spots, but an action story. It was fun - I thought it was a bit too rich in F*** words. Not sure if today's Carcassonne game is on or not - our usual host is out.

Laura, Yeah, Polly is easily becoming head of your household . Reminds me of the cartoon with a dinosaur monster in New York sitting down with a kitty in it's lap unable to move - the kitty saved the city! Glad your back feels better!

Paula, glad you're feeling a bit better - a few minutes at a time counts! We thought this was arthritis in Gus's hip, but if it's not getting much better I'll take him in to the vet for a X-ray. The only movies I've seen are when my friends can't make their early screening tickets - I saw the Lucy and Ricky Ricardo movie also months back. I don't know if this organization gathers opinions for final edits before the film is released.

Waves to all!

It's a dreary rainy day. We are getting the front that brought flooding and tornadoes down south, but we haven't had a tornado and we just have some hard rain, not flooding rain.

This morning, we spent time outside with Polly and went for a walk before the rain started. I cooked for DH for lunch, chicken kabobs (doing it the lazy way and buying kabobs pre-made from the grocery store - although I did make a couple more skewers, one with mushrooms and one with broccoli). I really need to get some records created for the taxes today, at least, get work done on it.

Polly has been high maintenance today because, as Paula said, she thinks she's in charge and she keeps wanting to do things we don't want her to do. An outside cat stuck inside during rain all day is not a happy situation!

Anita - It sounds like going to the movie was more of an experience than a movie you truly wanted to see. I hope Gus did okay on today's less strenuous walk.

Paula - Yay! I'm so glad you got good sleep. That is often the best medicine. Enjoy doing more, but still take it easy!

Good evening. DH and I did get in a neighborhood walk, not as fast or as far as we usually do but, we're making progress.

Anita, I would think a movie with the title "the Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" would be about someone with a massive talent - I wouldn't be expecting an action movie. Well unless the massive talent was for theft or something like that. The first thing that came to mind was the arts. Love the image of the dinosaur with the kitten in his lap being unable to move.

Laura, I love your stories about Polly - from street cat to spoiled queen in small easy steps. First step - hang out on the porch... Cooking on a rainy day can be fun. Something about overcast weather makes me want to bake.

Good morning!

Planning on taking Adelija to school, working at the WRC, taking Gus for a walk and to the veterinarian to get his limp checked out (he's getting worse ) and putzing around.

Laura, on chicken kabobs! I haven't gotten my grill started, but may do so this weekend to cook some Italian sausages . Well, does Polly want to be outside for the rainy days?

Paula, recovery is slow, but progressing . I hope you continue to feel better! I think Adelija cooks/bakes whenever she's home - weather independent.

We had a picture-perfect day today, sun drenched with a light breeze and on the cool side. I took DH to an appointment in the late morning. The rest of the day, we putzed around the house. I went outside twice to sit with Polly on the steps. She really enjoyed being outside today.

Anita - What did the vet say about Gus' hip? I hope he could help. Oh yes, Polly wants to be outside on rainy days. She'll sit out on our covered porch sadly looking out at the rain and meowing at us like she's telling us to DO something about it. And when she's in the house, her alter ego appears - Ms. Crankypants! (And yes, that's what we call her on days like that....) That's pretty funny about the kitty saving the city from the dinosaur monster!

Paula - Yay! I'm glad you are feeling better. I hope that trend continues and you feel back to normal soon. Rainy days make me want to craft. But I'm not letting myself do that until I get enough work done on my records for taxes. I've been making progress and I'll probably start on Easter cards this weekend.

Good morning!

Poor Gus has an ACL tear in his knee causing his lameness - he'll probably be in for surgery with a specialist in the next week or so. Sigh. Three of my four Aussies have gotten ACL tears - Cosmo had his at 7 and did fine with surgery, Snickers was too old for surgery at 12 and couldn't bear her weight on the other leg, so she was put to sleep. I'm hoping Gus can make it through OK and still have some good years left in him - he's 9.75 years old. I do curse my house for being a split level so he has to do stairs in and out of the house. Seven steps up and down... Gus was given an additional painkiller, so hope that helps. A surgical specialist will look at his Xray and set a date.

Adelija slept over at a friend's house but will be back today and tomorrow. Monday she'll be going with a friend's family to a cabin to spend part of her spring break there - frankly, I'm happy about that! At least it's not the Florida trip she was initially planning. She wants to go to a Ukrainian church tomorrow to make their Easter eggs - I love the patterns on those eggs . She'll be spending the rest of her spring break in Duluth with a trip with the kids from her organization. Yay!

Me? I'm putzing around the house - today should be relatively warm and dry so I might get out on the roof and try to reseal my skylight. I'll still walk Gus in our neighborhood.

Laura, good luck on taxes this year! The submission date is coming up soon... but you do get some extra days this year! Glad Ms Crankypants is still good company for you on the rainy days . The Easter cards have a quicker deadline than taxes this year by a day!

Waves to all!

I came in looking for the new thread. Today's not Sunday...

It has been a quiet day. We've watched TV and putzed around the house. I am doing some laundry and I'll fix DH pizza for dinner. Polly has ignored us totally today after going out early and laying in the sunshine in our bushes all day. I want to get more work done on the records for the taxes.

Anita - Poor Gus. I hope that the surgery helps and he does okay afterward. It sounds like a good thing that Adelija will be gone some next week. How long will she be with you - when does the school year end?

Paula - Hope you have continued to feel better!
