Lauren Brooks/beginner kettlebells help

I started running again early this year but a crazy work & travel schedule put my regular routine on hold so I was shocked when plantar fasciitis flared up again for no apparent reason in my right foot.

This past weekend I pulled out my 2 kettlebells and re-registered for the old Lauren Brooks 7 day Summer Swing challenge which is fun and empowering while not stressing my feet.

The question is where to go next? Honestly, I'm a total beginner/restarter when it comes to kettlebells, and so many 'beginner' workouts are really intimidating and anything but. I'd also prefer short workouts, like 20 min or less due to my schedule and attention span. Love Joey Alvarado's approach though haven't done any of his video. Dasha looks intriguing also.

I am open to DVDs, vhs and streaming, so all suggestions are welcome.

Lauren's Shut Up & Train DVD might be a good place to start. It has six 15-ish minute workouts on it.

The DVD version of Shut Up & Train is no longer available, but the streaming/downloadable version is on sale this week for 50% off. The coupon code is Lauren50.

Sarah Lurie's Iron Core Express is 20 minutes and great.

Of Lauren's videos, my favorite might be Ultimate Body Sculpt and Conditioning with Kettlebells Volume 2. It has two 20 minute routines, one more strength oriented (Grinder) and the other more cardio (Smoker). I personally tend to prefer less cardio in my kettlebell workouts so usually do Grinder.

Shut up and Train is good too.

Roxanne has a few beginner short workouts.

I love all things Lauren and have most of her stuff. She has had some decent sales on dvds, too. She has her playground open although prices have gone up…$179 for 3 months and you get so much content!

I also enjoyed Tracey Rifkind’s OTM swings…100 swings or more in 10 minutes. 😳. I believe she still has stuff on YouTube, too.

Since a 50% sale was too good to pass up I jumped on the digital version of SUAT. Might still cave on Vol 2 before the sale is up...

Roxanne is new to me, thank you! I got interested in kettlebells for the first time via Tracey's book The Swing early last year and then used a few of her videos to get started. She is so motivating.

Thanks, everyone!

Another good one is Paul Katami - Kettlebells for beginners. There are 3 workouts on the DVD and each workout is around 25 minutes.
