I also use a 4" step, no risers.

Gina, I love Kathy Smith's Step workout - it was my first step video and I later bought it on DVD.

Seasun's Stepping Up is an awesome workout! Both of Cathe's Party Rocking Step are fun.

I'm currently using no risers, just the bench. Use 1 riser when I'm in better shape.

I love pretty much all Cathe step but especially:

Party Rockin' Step 2
BodyMax2 (step cardio premix)
Step Blast
Imax 2
Imax 3 (when I am in better shape)

Honorable mentions to
Low Impact Circuit (Step cardio premix)
Step, Jump & Pump (Step section)
X10 (Step section)
Cardio&Weights (Step only)

Favorite non-Cathe step is
Step This Way Kristen Kagen

In the process of learning Petra Kolber's PK Step, which is really good for my current fitness level and not too tricky. Started learning Amy Bento's ASC3 but never finished. May learn ASC2 first instead because people seem to list that more often as a favorite. Started learning Seasun Zieger's Straight Up Step, but I'm a slow learner. Learned most of Franny Benedetto's Cardio Parties and that's fun. Learned Christi Taylor's Step Heaven fairly quickly but it's just not a favorite.

Also just ordered Marcus Irwin's Topless Blocks, still on sale at jumpybumpy. I'm easily enabled.

My first step workouts were Kathy Smith Power Step and Great Buns & Thighs.

I like a little step now and then and lean towards low impact and choreo that is not too complex.

My favs are:
Kari Anderson Go
Cathe Low Impact Step & Basic Step
Charlene Prickett With Every Step

Love these too, both have hi/lo & step:
Gay Gasper Cardio Crazy
Christi Taylor Mission Possible

There are also lots of step workouts on youtube including some of the old classics by Kathy Smith & Gin Miller.

Well, also as a disclaimer I should mention I'm short with short legs, so 4-5 inches feels like plenty to me.

Pam's post just reminded me that I have several of Charlene Prickett's It Figures DVDs which contain a bunch of step workouts I've never done. Something new to try!

I absolutely love step.....I love Amy bento, cathe and Seasun. I love complex step also. My fav standouts are:

Cathe: party rockin step 1 and 2(but I like 2 the most)
IMAX 2
Rhythmic step
Intensity
Step blast.....
Low impact step challenge.......to name a few

Amy: Asc 2 and 4 are my faves from her

Seasun: z-fit
Straight up step

And christi Taylor, but I can't think of the names right now, except for totally cool step 2

I hope step never falls by the wayside, but if so I have plenty to keep me busy

Step is my favorite form of cardio. I really miss the old days when there were new step workouts coming out all the time. I usually use a 6 inch step but since I'm not in as great of shape as I used to be, if I plan to do a longer step session or a harder step workout, I'll sometimes use just the platform...I guess it depends on the workout.

My favorites are:

Cathe Party Rockin Step#1 (absolute favorite)
Cathe Cardio & Weights (step only premix)
Imax 2
All Christi Taylors step
Seasun Steppin Up
Deirdre Morris Tap-less and Step More

Sorry! Be warned - the production values are not great (there are some sound issues, and at one point, the video fades out to the revolving "e" for a few seconds while you're stepping), but Marcus is a wonderful instructor, has excellent cuing, and has a very charming personality. The choreography is fantastic, and there is no TIFTT, which is great. I just fell in love with it the first time I did it.
