Yesterday I taught yoga in the morning and then did Pulse Yoga at home. I picked up this set awhile back at a used sale and don't do it very often, but I do like it once and awhile. I would describe it as a combination of yoga and barre work (with light weights). I usually do #3 because it's the shortest; I recall that #1 seemed to go on too long, but I might try #2 again some time.

Never heard of Pulse Yoga before. Your review was definitely helpful.

Tai Chi Fit To Go: Workout 1

Haven't done Yoga Flex in a long while and enjoyed revisiting.
The instruction and pace were perfect for me today.

Ilde, I'd never heard of it before I saw it at a used book sale either--I've gotten some interesting things at sales! One thing I forgot to mention is that I always feel it in my glutes the next day.

Is anyone doing the Ten Percent Happier New Year's Meditation Challenge? I like their stuff, but this isn't resonating with me. I think it's because the practices have tended to center around working with being too hard on yourself, which I'm not (if anything I tend to be too easy on myself, haha). I may stop doing the challenge and replace it with meditations more focused on sending love and joy out to the world (like metta).

Beth, I'm doing the NY Challenge and feel the same as you. I'm down on myself but with good reason, I've been really slacking in what I should be doing (in life, not so much workouts). So it definitely hasn't been motivating me but I'll probably finish it anyway bc there's very little in the app I can use since I won't pay for apps.

I also am doing the 10 day NY challenge on Insight Timer, which is not listed as a course but a series of singles. And I found out you can do the Mindful Mornings challenge without joining the circle so I started that too. It seems like if you put the word "challenge" on smthg I can't resist it!

Vannie, thanks for you input. As a psychologist, I don't think it's ever helpful to be down on yourself - we think that we need in a kick in the a$$ and that it will help to motivate us, but actually, it usually has the opposite effect. When you talk to yourself with patience, compassion, and kindness, you often find that you accomplish more!

I think I will stay in the Ten Percent challenge just so I get the reminders, which do help me. But I'm going to check out Insight Timer for alternatives.

Beth, thanks, I know you're right, I'm just frustrated with myself. I know what I need to do and even what I want to do and I just don't do it. A friend always tells me not to beat myself up bc the world will do that enough. I've been doing the new Daily Insight on Insight Timer too, although they don't always do anything for me. I am just amazed at all the free content they offer. I listen to their Soundscapes or music nearly every night as I fall asleep too.
