Hi I am thinking of buying a TRX.

Just wanting some thoughts and opions of users.

Do you use for your only method of strength training?

Are they easy to install and sturdy?

Thank you for any suggestions or comments.

I have had one for a couple of years. I use the doorway attachment, or on my pull-up bar, as I don’t have a rack.

I use it for variety, as some written plans I use have certain TRX exercises as an at-home option. I use it most for rows, presses, flies, ab work like fallouts, and occasionally supported pistol squats. I wouldn’t want it to be my only strength work because at a certain point the options for progressing are limited.

Using the door attachment too. I was first introduced to TRX when my Pilates studio began to hold classes. The instructor was very good and I always try to duplicate that. The classes always felt like a complete workout. Sweat fest. It’s harder with videos because you change the direction you’re facing and strap length. Then pausing and starting the video again.

The studio used the X TRX mount and it was stable but I’m glad I have a door vs depending on my installation skills.

For workout ideas the TRX site offers free online classes for 30 days.

I’m using more free weights and kettlebells now but planning on getting back to TRX soon.

If you end up having a transition issue with the length of the straps and having to keep attaching and removing the extender get in touch with me. I found a rock climbing attachment solution. The door I use is pretty tall and it was an annoyance I had to find a way to make smoother.

Thank you!!

I appreciate the information. I used one when I had to do PT for my broken leg several years ago and I like it.

Anita, I bought a TRX system recently. I'm going to have a friend put the wall anchor up because the door to my workout room opens inward and I just don't feel comfortable using the door anchor.

There are several YouTube TRX workouts. I like this guy. He has an intro, a beginner and an intermediate workout.

I like this guy:

An introduction to TRX suspension training at home

22 minute TRX (suspension trainer) workout for beginners

The Next Level Strength & Toning workout using a TRX

I love weights, but this is a nice change of pace.

Mine is permanently mounted to my ceiling with two tie down anchors (permanent b/c it's a 10' ceiling and I don't pull out the ladder).

I bought Dan Long's Suspension 2.0 many years ago as well as some of the Fitness Anywhere DVDs, but there are lots of free options.

A list of channels that have workouts using a Suspension Trainer. It's funny how things sync up sometimes. I just highlighted this Marsha Hughes workout on Monday:

And a few playlists I've curated:
