I think I have SI joint pain on my left side. Is there a particular DVD that is especially good for this area to strengthen it and not stress it. I think I might buy an ŚI belt from amazon... From what I've read, it seems pilates and squeeze type workouts are the best.. I don't click with CS. I have the Barbara Benagn DVD with SI segment.

I guess my question is What types of exercises or stretches should I avoid? Yesterday I did a "pilates" DVD with lots of hip gluteus stretches and I feel pain today.

Most of my pain radiated from the right sits bone and was triggered by many back stretches, especially a lying spinal twist. When inflamed, the front of the hip and knee would also get involved.

Since lying on the sacro-wedgy before bed-time for 20 minutes, I have no more pain when getting out of bed in the morning. If it gets aggravated during the day, I lie on the sacro-wedgy.
I believe a huge part of my problem is my right leg is longer than the left so my hips get out of alignment.

I also recommend sleeping on your side and with a pillow between your legs. It really helps with people with back problems and it really works.

This is a great stretch and relax routine! No twists.

Today I did my only CS Dvd Full Body Workout/athletes stretch, and feel it was a wonderful therapy for my SI. The serola belt I recently purchased is a great support.

Hi!

I have lower back and SI Joint issues, as well. My "treatments":

Barbara Benagh Back Care yoga - General Practice or Lumbar practice
Barbara Benagh Yoga for Stress Relief - SI Joint or Lower back tension practice
Other DVDs by Barbara - she demonstrates yoga in a very detailed and precise manner to get the proper alignment/form in. The postures that help me the most are standing ones like triangle/side angle, reclined cobblers, reclined leg stretches, and reclined twists.
Qi Gong - Particularly 7 Min of Magic - PM or the Lower Back practice by Lee Holden
Classical Stretch - in particular for an active flare up the Back Pain DVD;
Chiropractor
Allaire Back Fitness - demonstrates exercises intended to strengthen the back, there is also a bonus episode that is just stretching for when you are having a flare up. I really need to commit to doing this more b/c I think ultimately it will help prevent future injuries.

I have also embarked on Drop 2 Sizes w/ the hope that it will strengthen my core - not just abs, but back and glutes - to stabilize my lower back.

I also think it is probably not a good idea to sit w/ legs crossed - at least not for me.

My SI joint is very mobile - but for good or bad, if it is out, I can pop it back in. So, although it pops out, I generally can get it back in place myself.
