Question Cathe STS Rotation questions

Hi all,
I am just ending my 3rd week of Meso 1 in STS. I'm trying to do the 3 month rotation (Meso 1, 2, 3 one time through) adding in my own choice of cardio in between the strength workouts.

My question is - when I am done with Meso 1, should I take a one week break doing something else, or should I just move right into Meso 2?

I did this rotation years ago and did take a one week break at that time and did assorted other workouts.

I'm not sure if I'm necessarily looking for specific results although last time I did this I got some great strength increases!

What do you think?

Thanks for your input! I always love to hear everyone's ideas!

I would definitely take a break in between Meso's! I think that is how it was meant to be and for me, I found I need the break.

I agree the break is necessary both mentally and physically. I remember doing other lighter workouts that had more of a stretching element to them that week along with some cardio.

Also, as you know the format between Meso cycles is very different. I think having a week to “forget” the pace and format of the previous cycle is helpful.

I took the breaks when I did STS last year. Kate, I know you do intense workouts consistently without taking breaks but I think it's a mental game too with STS. There's something about coming back "fresh" for the next meso. I think I would have really felt burned out without the breaks.

+2!! I just did cardio, yoga and rested during those weeks. Cathe mentions in the guide to stay away from weights during that time.

Maybe this would be a good time to check out Yvette Bachman's workouts on Youtube?? Just do her cardio ones which I think you'd find fun!

ETA: I did this one this morning...it's one of her shorter ones (45 min.) and doesn't have weights or use any equipment. It's just is all athletic cardio kickboxing (with too many j.jacks, however) with a couple yoga exercises thrown in (but not soon enough, LOL!). I found it very FUN:

Aw I KNEW I could get great input from you all! I am in agreement all the way. I have one more week of Meso 1 so have time to plan out a 'break week'.

Thinking instead of weight work, doing just cardio and bodyweight stuff.
Yes on the mental break and even yes on the physical break. I won't take a complete break from exercise but won't lift weights that week since that it was is recommended.

AnMrsDe: enabler!! ;-)

Thank you all!

P.S.
Any good recommendations for bodyweight only workouts?

Of course I had to ask!
