Hi Everyone,

I have the day off today for Veteran's Day - even though I will likely log in to catch up on some work....but it is ok if I don't have to respond to e-mails and messages.

Today was:

Pahla B - Squat Free Cardio & Standing Abs - Moderate cardio followed by a standing abs routine....

Jessica Valent - Yoga and Pilates for Arms - body weight exercises for upper body.

Trifecta Pilates - Upper Body Stretch - this one was short under 10 min and used a foam roller to stretch the upper body/chest. A good one to do to counter act computer posture.

We walked the dog yesterday, but probably not today - rainy.....I also think I have extensor tendonitis:

https://www.healthline.com/health/ex...#complications

I think I gave it to myself from tying my laces too tight on my shoes - believe it or not - I hate having loose shoes, but I think I over did it....I also think the new shoes I bought for walks are a bit too "floppy"..which is probably why I felt the need to tie them so tight. Anyway, I'm just going to be mindful of it and try not to aggravate it....doing barefoot workouts does not bother it very much, so that is good. May also use the bike more to avoid too much stress on my foot. I have been using ice....

My DD had a mini-breakdown last night about the pandemic and life in general being what it is - she is not the type to be dramatic so this must be bothering her. It is hard for her to stay motivated w/ on-line school and I can understand the feeling. Since the pandemic started I have been kind of meh about getting things done and procrastinating. I even do it w/ work - which is why I need to log in today. I guess it is the sameness of every day...anyway...

Carol - that is good routine - I have it somewhere in my collection. You know, it may be a good one to do every other day - or alternate standing and floor every other day.

Linda - nice workouts!

For Jessica's challenge she will probably send an e-mail and we can sign up to receive the daily workouts via e-mail. That is how she does most of her challenges.

Hope everyone has a good day - I'm doing some housework and then some work for my job that I procrastinated doing earlier in the week....pandemic malaise...

Oh Carol - forgot to reply - the Total Body Tune Up, to me is most like Lengthen, Strengthen and Breathe - have you done that one? It fits in my mind more w/ her "yoga" style workouts - meaning toning w/out weights, not a cardio pace. Hope that helps!

No, I haven't done that one either, but I'm thinking it's like Prayer Flow.

My Veteran's Day workout was

Jessica Smith - Walk Strong 2: Poise & Grace - 35 minutes

Nothing like a good barefoot Jessica fusion workout to remind me of how crappy my balance is! Obviously I need to add "balance" to my long list of things I need to be working on.

Donna - I'm sorry your daughter is having a rough go of it! I was talking with my head of school just this week about how hard the pandemic has been on everyone, most especially women who tend to be more emotional anyway and are the "glue" that holds their families together. We are all already operating in "survival" mode and it's exhausting and hard - as a society, we're not used to problems like this that aren't easily fixed. And as much as kids need to be physically be in the schoolhouse for so many reasons, I seriously doubt that places that have not already reopened for in person school will do so this school year (given the conditions and the election outcome). Such a disappointment for them! And sorry about your feet - I've done that in the past, but it didn't take too long for things to get better.

Linda - Glad you are enjoying the Element Pilates videos! I need to drag mine out and use them. They are nice!

Waves to all ~

Hi Everyone,

Quick post, late start this morning due to coughing dog all night (my dog routinely eats stuff in the yard that gets stuck in her throat and causes her to pretty much cough all night - then, miraculously, by morning, she is better...)

Anyway - today was;

Jessica Valent -Buns & Guns HIIT - this one uses a kettlebell and includes your standard exercises - squats, lunges, etc....I do appreciate the efficiency of this one - done in under 30 min.

Jessica Valent - Good Morning routine - a short stretch segment....

My foot is feeling a bit better w/ some ice/heat and w/ yesterday's weather I didn't get out to walk which probably didn't hurt either in terms of allowing for more recovery time.

If it is not much better by next week I think I will come up w/ a mini-rotation of bike for cardio and floowork for strength.

I can do stuff that is standing but I also don't want to irritate things and just have it take longer to heal.

Carol - I agree 100% - my DD is feeling a bit better now - I think it is the stress of applying for college, too, and the uncertainty of how things are going to play out - not only given college which is a change but the pandemic and where we are going w/ that. Our BOE voted yesterday to begin the 'hybrid' model starting 2nd semester - but I don't think that is really going to come to pass - case counts are rising here, jurisdictions are scaling back and implementing more restrictions - and I still don't see how going from 2,000 kids in the school to 1,000 is really going to help all that much w/ reducing transmission. The Hybrid model splits them into Group A and B. Group A goes Monday and Thursday, Group B Goes Tuesday and Friday and Wed is remote for everyone. I don't see how that is going to work in HS w/ classes that may have a mix of Group A and B kids. But I don't think it is going to come to pass anyway.

And yes, Total Body Tune Up is similar to Prayer Flow - it is longer, w/ some floorwork, too.

Waves, everyone,

Donna

Good morning!

JS Cardio Core Walk off 21 Day Weight Loss set - 30min.
Jessica Valant 30 Minutes Pilates Workout off youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiNjs29EZjs&t=282s

I found JV's workout quite challenging. The first 14 min was very wrist intensive and I wasn't prepared for it. Next time I'll make sure I have an extra mat rolled up under my wrists. I liked this workout a lot because I was very challenged throughout.

Waves to all!

Donna your link re: your foot didn't work for me but I'm sorry it's not feeling good. Good for you finding ways to work around it and allowing it to rest. Your shoes could definitely be a culprit. I bought a pair of shoes to work out in and the more I wore them the looser they felt. Hope it clears up soon. I was sad to read about your daughter ...it is such a tough time for these kids. Watching things virtually, limited interaction with others and no real end of all this in sight is so discouraging. Not supposed to be this way in this stage of their lives...they should have so much to look forward to...not this. All I keep doing is trying to give as many extra hugs as possible.

Carol I can get overwhelmed thinking about all the things I need to work on, too, lol. That Erin O'brien is on my radar to pick up someday. Straightforward isn't produced nowadays. Everything has to be all twist balance compound hop skip.jump do the hokey pokey!

Yesterday was Jill Miller Yoga Tune up Quickfix upper body and hands wrists fingers. Love this series and really like Jill's teaching style.

Good Thursday vibes to everyone and waves to Dana, and Brenda!

Thursday was a rest day and my next to last night of class (yay!), so no workout.

Dana and Linda About Jessica Valant's 10 for 10 Pilates Series - she mentioned that she will post them to YouTube every night (and send out an email with a link if you are on her email list).

I read last night that the state is sending extra trucks here to serve as makeshift morgues. Isn't that a lot of help? Morgue trucks, extra nurses, and PPE - but no rules to guide behavior, other than a mask mandate and 50% occupancy on restaurants, etc., with no enforcement ability. What a strange world we live in. To add insult to injury, we (the City) is hosting the World Ranch Rodeo Championships this week and weekend. That makes so much sense!

Nice job Linda! A few years back I spent a lot of time with Jill's Yoga at Home series. I think Donna did as well.

Dana - Jessica's stuff does seem to be wrist intensive, which is problematic for me. That bothers me with many people's pilates workouts.

Donna - We built our entire schedule this year so that we could move to A and B days if we had to. We use cohorts of kids for similar reasons. It complicates scheduling, but intuitively it makes sense that the fewer kids other kids are exposed to, the better. Less contact tracing and fewer chances for exposure - our health department is so far behind on contact tracing that we have to do it for them if we have a case in the school. I don't think there's a lot of research out there to support that - so I've heard.

Hi Everyone,

This morning was:

Ellen - Super Fast Body Blast
Moving Mango (You Tube) - 90 Day Pilates Challenge Day 50 which was a short total body routine.

I like Moving Mango - she is very relaxed and cues well. I am intrigued by the thought of doing 90 days of Pilates...but, realistically, I should try for 15 first and then go from there!

My foot is feeling better - icing it and using heat, too and the fact that it has been miserable outside (rain) has made me curtail my walks which is also probably helping. Ellen's workout didn't bother it - most what bothers it is wearing shoes.

I may do a week or two of biking and floorwork routines to see if that doesn't help...

Carol - goodness....our cases are rising here as well - but on my rare excursions out I do see compliance w/ mask wearing. Some jurisdictions have scaled back their re-opening plans. It is going to be a long winter. our school district gives us the option of remaining in virtual school if we don't want to send our kids back. I'm going to play it by ear - my DD said she does not want to go back if cases are rising. I'll just see where we are when the time comes. I still don't think they will be going back at all this year, though. If cases are rising now and winter is not even here yet....it looks doubtful.

Linda -I like Jill Miller, too!!

Dana - yes, one downside to Jessica's workouts are that she does do a lot of work on your hands. It isn't a problem for me, but If you do have hand or wrist issues, it can be tough on those areas.

Hope everyone has a good day - Happy Friday!

Friday's workout was

Jessica Smith - Walk Strong 2: Have A Ball - 32 minutes

This is such a "pain free" cardio workout for me. It gets my heart rate up and I sweat quite a bit, but it's over before I know it. I can't ask for much more than that.

No news here, except my dryer broke again. I think it's the same problem I had before that they "fixed". So I will have to venture out to one of the most unsafe places I know, the laundromat. Not happy about that. Our State is finally doing something in response to our high case numbers up here. They are sending in the mobile morgue trucks...

Donna - I live in the Wild West, where no one tells us what to do, and that includes telling us to wear masks. The interesting thing here, even in light of our increased case numbers, several of the local school districts have eliminated their at home learning programs. Their rationale was that the at home learning wasn't working - most of the kids on it were failing and not bothering to even check in. We've picked up some students because of that and may pick up more in the coming weeks.

Nice job with Moving Mango - is that the gal from Vietnam with the dog? I think I've been tempted by her workouts in the past, but my memory is that they are typically on the longer (and more challenging) side.

Waves to all and happy weekend!
