Are there other fans of the music movie "The Commitments?" I love that movie! Anyway - the cast member named Glen Hansard who played the character Outspan has released wonderful music since the film-including solo cds and with his band "The Frames" and "Swell Season" He was in the movie "Once" which featured his lovely song "Falling Slowly." If you love that movie then check out the documentary "The Swell Season" about him and Marketa from the movie "Once"about their real life relationship and concert tour. I love The Commitments! Maria Doyle Kennedy is now on the series "Orphan Black" on Bbc America. She sang on an episode this season- so good!

Wendy- I did not know that- thank you! She played a nanny on the series Dexter.

We saw The Commitments multiple times in the theater.
I bought the deluxe version of the Dvd. It includes a great documentary about the making of the movie.

We almost saw Andrew Strong in concert when we were in London for our honeymoon but the show was canceled.
The male members of the band did a concert tour in the USA
There was a show near us but it was on a weeknight and we could not go.

I'm not familiar with Hothouse Flowers, but I am a fan of The Alarm, or I was at one time. I saw them in concert when they opened up for Bob Dylan back in 1988. I was in high school and Bob Dylan enunciated more clearly back then! I haven't heard anything from the Alarm since the early 90s, are they still making music?

I don't remember M.D.K. Being the nanny on Dexter! I can only picture the nanny towards the end of the series.

Also, I saw something recently about Glenn Campbell's final tour. Maybe on CBS Sunday Morning? It's sad about his Alzheimer's, but his daughter is a dear to do the tour with him and help him!

Maria Doyle was briefly a member of Hothouse Flowers. There are clips on you tube of them.
I saw The Alarm on that tour and about ten other times -I was a major fan. They broke up in 1991. Mike Peters is in remission from fighting cancer twice. He is touring this summer to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album "Strength."

Twist works for a law firm in San Francisco. Dave Sharp still plays music and Eddie became a photographer.

They played at my college and I was in the concert club that worked at all the campus concerts. They were extremely nice people. I need to find my autographs.

Two of Glen's sons are in his band also.

Chrissie Hynde wrote a memoir which will be released in September. I will definitely read this one.

There is also a memoir coming out this fall by Elvis Costello.

My library ordered Chrissie's and Elvis' book by my request
