Smile Tonique (again!)

Hi everyone - calling out to amazing Toniquers out there... I am now a little obsessed with Tonique... the pain, the post-workout euphoria, the fact that it is such a challenge to conquer! And I only have the downloads. I done all of them a couple of times - Cardio-Sculpt 2 still gets me - but they are slowly getting more doable. I have been looking at getting one of her longer workouts like Addicted Movement, BTM and FF and even the Royale workout.

Which do you think I should start with? and what is "sway and verve"?

If it were me, I would start with ATM, because it's not as challenging as FF, BTM or Royale, but it has lots of her newer moves. Sway is a suspended workout that Sylwia does with her legs on a radiator so she is at a higher incline. Sway is about 7 or 8 minutes. Verve is an abdominal workout that is quite intense, but it's still about the same length as Sway. FF would be good to do, too. You could start with Phase 1 which is 31 minutes and quite straight forward not many bent over moves or hand stands. Phase 3 is about 38 minutes and has some bent over moves and also some hand stand moves. Phase 2 is a whole new story. That one is 128 minutes. That being said, ATM is quite easy to break up and do just the first 30 or 40 minutes and still be even in both sides.

I think BTM is also awesome and BTM 1.1 which is 73 minutes is her most intense lower body workout, IMO. This workout is all glutes and legs except for a couple plank moves. The thing is it's hard to break up to a shorter workout unless you do half the reps on one leg and the other half on the other leg. For me, that took away from the workout and getting into the workout zen that I get with Tonique. I don't like counting anything. I just get into the mode and keep going.

I hope I answered some of your questions.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl!
I have followed some of your posts from the Tonique check-in - you are amazing - some of your posts have pushed me through some of the download workouts - thinking that if you can do 90 minutes - I can at least do 16! Thanks you for your detailed information - I may actually purchase both ATM and FF based on your info. I was thinking FF would be too hard - but I think I can do the half hour now. Have you tried the Hamptons workout or any of the express downloads? I am just wondering how they compare in difficulty to the other workouts. If they are easier AND shorter... I may be in trouble

I agree with Cheryl that Addicted to Movement is slightly easier than the other choices, but it is still difficult! It does split up perfectly at the 40 minute mark into two 40-min. workouts, and that is a big plus.

I think you might be a lot happier doing more short downloads. There are the 7 Bikini Body/Beach Project downloads that you could start doing right now!

I will list the links, they are mostly from Sylwia's you-tube channel.
This is the order I like to do them in:

Ta10 minutes standing:

Tb10 minutes hands and knees energetic

Tc15 minutes standing with a burpee finish

Td20 minutes - 15 hands and knees plus 5 sit-ups

Te14 minutes squats

Tf6 minutes v-sit-ups
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_y...QUE/edit?pli=1

Tg 14 minutes arms with band

Also, something to look forward to, Sylwia filmed several short workouts while on vacation in Hawaii, and I'm sure you will hear when they become available!

Good idea linking the shorter downloads together or even your express workouts. As for the ones Sylwia filmed in Hawaii, I am pretty sure she has three 45 minute workouts and one 90 minute workout. That would be express for Sylwia. LOL

The Hamptons is the most like Royale but significantly shorter. It is a little more total body (with lots of horizontal/downdog/up down moves) than her express downloads which are lower body focused. I would definitely try out Hamptons before purchasing Royale.

I really like ATM for the cardio/total body/fun factor and she doesn't linger on one leg for very long at all (if at all) like she does in BTM and FF. Like Cheryl said, it makes it much easier to break into shorter workouts. FF Phase 1 and 3 are easier than BTM, but FF Phase 2 is probably her hardest due to the length. FF and ATM are both good choices for the bonus workouts Verve and Sway, which I enjoy very much. I use the back of a sturdy sofa to perform Sway, and Verve is an awesome ab workout.

The express downloads are pretty intense, and I think you can do FF Phase 1 (which isn't too intense but a little longer at 30 minutes), then work up to FF Phase 3 (which is a little more intense with all the handstands, and is about 40 minutes), and ATM broken up (into 30 or 40 minute chunks). You really might try out Hamptons too, I LOVE that download!

I agree with what others have said. ATM is a great step up, but I also recommend FF, because FF Phase 1 and 3 are very do-able lengths, in my opinion. That versatility is really great for building up to the longer Toniques in BTM 1.1, FF Phase 2, and Royale. You can even pair Phase 1 with a download when you are feeling ambitious and want to do longer Toniques.

I'm also obsessed with Tonique. I've been doing it for over a year now (with no breaks) and still can't get enough. Post-workout euphoria is a good way to describe it. That feeling keeps me coming back.

I do mostly barre3 but have started doing Tonique 2 days a week, in small parts, for cardio and extra lower body work and it is the toughest thing I've done. I like the Cardio Sculpt 1 download, but modify the burpee moves with a chair and keep the impact out on the kickboxing moves, etc. For premier, I can do the jumps in the squat section (never do the drills, my flat feet hate that kind of impact). I'd say it's effective and fun.

I'll look forward to getting ATM when I master Premier and T2, if that ever happens, lol. Thanks for asking this question~I enjoyed reading all the answers.

AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing - I will be doing this to add on to downloads and work up to the longer workouts.

Thanks for your advice ladies! I am looking forward to tackling the Hamptons soon and then ATM. I have previewed it (Hamptons) a couple of times and I am pretty sure my arms are going to be dying early in the workout.

...on another note - I have noticed my butt lifting - but also gained inches in the thighs and waist. I hope this is just temporary. I have mainly been focussed on TA workouts - so this is a big change from TA. I don't want to give up Tonique... anybody else experience this with Tonique until their bodies got used to the workouts (if that's possible ?

I purchased BTM because of this thread and did workout 1, segment one today and all I can say is !!! I've only tried Tonique 2 in the past and didn't reach for it much as I really didn't care for the music. BTM however uses much better music but holy moly my glutes are talkin to me already! But this is what I wanted and for an advanced Cathe follower I am humbled....This is a whole new world to me but I'd like to commit for one month and see how my glutes respond. I'm hoping I can stick to 3 tonique workouts/ week and maybe combine it with Horizontal Conditioning. I just finished Cathe's one month RWH rotation and have been doing heaving lifting for quite some time so I think it's time to switch it up and see what happens. Sylwia makes this look so effortless, she's my new hero! And she looks gorgeous while doing it....
Thank you to all you Tonique fans, I hope I don't fall flat on my face and fail LOL!
