I ordered the $3 membership and at the completion of the order it offered the Gold for $13 more. I clicked No Thanks and it ordered and charged my card

I emailed them and will follow up with a phone call tomorrow. So irritated!

Probably just an error. I got the same offer for the Gold upgrade and I clicked No, and my card was only charged for $3. I just checked.

You can go into your account and cancel the renew option. I did.

I have no intentions to cancel anything now, but I would like to know where you found the option to go into your account and cancel anything. The only way I found you can cancel is to call their phone number. That's a hassle, and a red flag. Even if you go to "update your CC" page, it doesn't allow you to delete the CC number and you can only change the expiration date and/or security code. Not good, but I'll tackle this problem when I decide I don't want to renew a year or so from now. Right now, I'm happy I've signed up. I like what I see on their website. I just wish that cancelation was easier. This thing about having to call them makes it so much less transparent.

Go into your account. Click on to "card on file". You can stop the automatic renewal

I don't see such function. I see "card on file" but I can only update expiration date and security code. There is no other function available to me. I just signed up few hours ago. I'll check back tomorrow to see if something changes.

I was able to email them when I cancelled but that was over a year ago. Maybe they've changed that.

I have already cancelled my next April 2020 renewal by email and my credit card info was removed.
If you do not cancel the automatic renewal before your renewal date, they will send you an email reminder before charging you.

The only company which did not respect my renewal cancellation was Grokker

Thank you Karen and Barb. I made a note on my calendar for next October to decide if I want to renew the subscription or not. I generally prefer to go to "my account" and just cancel, but as long as they respond to emails and cancel without hassle, I'm OK with it.

double check your renewal price which may be much higher
they offered me much better prices after cancelling
